Departing at 9:30 and returning at 3pm allows you plenty of time with the awe-inspiring humpback whales in Platypus Bay. The cruise along pristine Fraser Island’s western beaches can offer sightings of dingoes, schooling fish and numerous sea birds. Expert commentary by our knowledgeable skipper will keep you entertained as well as DVD’s on the plasma TV. Colouring activities and soft toys will keep the children amused and if they are tired we have 3 double beds. Home-baked morning tea, tropical buffet lunch as well as fruit and cheese platters for the return trip are all included as well as tea, coffee, water and soft drinks all day. With maximum passenger numbers of 45 and three levels of viewing your whale watch experience will be memorable, informative and uncrowded. « less

“Brilliant whale watching trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We arrived late into Hervey Bay so booked onto Freedom for the next morning after hastily locating a tour which would take us so late in the day - serendipitous of us!

The boat was well equipped with lots of space and different sitting areas and the crew were really friendly and professional. Coffee, tea and soft drinks were complimentary throughout the day which was a nice touch. Morning tea of scones (freshly baked and still warm - yes that is possible on a boat!) with jam and cream and profiteroles was delicious! Lunch of cold meats, chicken wings (hot from the oven), salads and freshly baked bread rolls was also delicious.

Despite it being close to the end of the season we saw lots of whales (mostly mums and calves) splashing about and literally 'having a whale of a time' off the coast of Hervey Bay. The crew communicated with other boats in the area and were patient and knowledgeable about getting us to the best spots to see whales.

A wonderful day - we have great photos and memories from the tour, highly highly recommended - you have a lot of choice in Hervey Bay but I would really encourage you to go with Freedom!

“Once in a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Absolutely magnificent! Best value for money as this was a 3/4 day tour compared to 1/2 tours for roughly the same price. Keith and the team were fantastic on the day, food was first class and the skill, knowledge and professionalism of the crew was 1st class. This truly was the experience of a lifetime and we'll be back the next time we visit Hervey Bay.

“Best Cruise Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

We booked a Freedom Whale Watch Package staying at the Emeraldene Inn and were so happy with the choice after this trip. This was a gift for my wife’s birthday and we both had an amazing experience with the whales. The boat is a perfect size with only 40 odd passengers on board, and being a ¾ day trip we had the opportunity for a lie in. Food was great (profiteroles included!!), staff and service amazing! Highly recommended.

Thanks for the wonderful review. It is very rewarding to hear that our guests are really enjoying their whale watch experiences as well as the tasty food! The package with Emeraldene Inn has been a great new collaboration this season and seems to work well. See you in 2012?

“Exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

With so many whale watching companies to choose from, all aroud the same price, we chose this one because it didn't leave too early or return too late, but still was enough time out on the water to maximise whale sightings. We found the crew extremely friendly and helpful, the food was delicious (freshly baked scones for morning tea and warm breadrolls and hot marinated chicken wings with cold meat and salad for lunch were the highlights), and the boat was a good size - not too crowed, big enough to have a good view but small enough to get down around the edge when the whales were close to the boat. A great day.
