We stayed in one of their Queen rooms for 2 nights in November 2008 at $120 per night. Although the room wasn't much to look at, I thought it was still good value as we got the basic amenities we wanted, including a fridge and tv with movies. The room was also clean and comfy and was made up each day. The only complain we had was that the wireless internet connection didn't work, but they didn't charge us for it, so that was okay. The service here was also pretty helpful. We had problems with adjusting the heater/air-con at one point and apparently the owner himself came to help us fix it.

We stayed at the Overland for the 2 nights we were in Kalgoorlie. You would have to drive to downtown - around a mile if I recall. However, it is reasonably priced although I not sure I understood the breakfast there. There is a buffett which is charged at 2 different rates. It was supposed to be included in our daily rate but wasn't. My guess is there is a continental and hot breakfast fee although there were dinner items out for breakfast such as meat. The pool is small but functional to cool off since it was really hot (40 degrees) that day. Suggest visiting the end of the water pipelines at Mt. Charlotte which brings water to Kalgoorlie from Perth. Went to the Super Pit which is free and very impressive as well as the Mining Museum ($15 with discount coupon) which included an underground tour. Businesses are closed on Sunday in town. Went to the Wild West Saloon to see the scimpy's hoopla and ate at Paddy's which had a good crowd. It was a good visit but a long drive from Perth - took us 7.5 hours with a couple of tourist stops.
