Lovely people and close to town but there is quite a bit of traffic noise. The rooms are a good size but quite worn and some of the appliances need replacing.

WE stayed here over new year and were extremly dissapointed, There are new owners, who make you pay in full for your stay upfront along with giving your credit card details also. The argued forever with us when we said we had to cancell one night because we had a family emergency and the made us pay so we lost alot of money and left very unhappy. The rooms no longer have the washer and dryers only old washing machines, the couches are extremly uncomfortable , and they do not top up your tea and coffee during your stay anymore. They have also put up their prices by ALOT. Bring back the old owners!!! Will never stay here again very dissapointing as it was always pur go to place. The new owners need to take spme lessons in customer service and manners! dont stay here!!!!
A 'close-to-all-the-important-stuff' location and well appointed, comfortable rooms make The Chancellor great value for money.
The rooms were modern and impeccably clean. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Happy and helpful, they left my Australian girlfriend convinced that New Zealanders really are the friendliest people in the world. Go see for yourself.
I LOVED the Whistler in Queenstown. The owners were just wonderful and so incredibly friendly and interested in where we were from and where we were going. They had a wide selection of DVDs available at reception and they left clear instructions of how to find our room, as we arrived too late to check in with them.
The apartment was fab too, large bedroom with large wardrobes. The bathroom was perfect for the two of us and the living room was also very spacious. The balcony was massive and could have easily fit a large table with 8 chairs around it. We had an incredible view of the lake and mountains and watched the sun set every night. The bed was comfortable as was the sofa and we never had a problem parking close to our room. The hotel is a 1 min walk from Queenstown center and you are close to all the restaurants, pubs and wharf. The gondolas are also only a 10 min walk away or a 3 min drive. We also drove to the shotover jet from the hotel and we were there in 15mins. The only thing I would have changed (and this is clutching at straws) would be the metal blind in the bedroom. It was very warm while we were there and so we had to have the window open, this made the blind bang contantly against the wall which did wake me up a few times. If there was aircon or a fan I could have shut the window but it was also light so ealry we couldn't leave the blind down. This was literally my only conplaint!
Thank you so much Jan and Wayne for a fantastic visit!
We stayed at this holiday apartment during our recent trip to Queenstown. The staff were helpful, warm and friendly people who recommended a number of nice activities to do in this area. The rooms were very clean and in excellent condition. We were very comfortable staying there.
