“A little slice of peace and quiet in Queenstown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband and I and our 25mth old son loved staying at this gorgeous cottage set in a beautiful garden. The cottage is in a quiet spot just by the famous Shotover River, a stones throw from the Historic Shotover Bridge.

It is very peaceful - so much more relaxing than being in the busy madness of tourists in Queenstown. However, it's only a short drive into town or to the nearby The Remarkables Park Shopping Centre in one direction and Arrowtown in the other.

Glenys and Kevin were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough for us. As well as being very welcoming and making us feel at home, they were very understanding of our dietary requirements and our sons food allergies. Glenys prepared wonderful breakfasts for us. She was so patient and kind to our little boy who was having his first holiday away and was quite taken with the concept of "a new bed" to sleep in! Buckley and Ellie the cat were also a big hit - and as equally patient with an excited little boy wanting to cuddle them!

It was lovely to stay somewhere with such character and that so obviously is well cared for. All the amenities were great - just like being at home, a lounge with wonderful fire (not the we needed it when we stayed), a full kitchen, (esp. handy when dealing with food allergies), and a bathroom with a bath and a great shower.

The 2 nights we'd booked weren't long enough and we would have loved to be able to stay longer and highly recommend The Ferry as a "must stay" place in Queenstown!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We thoroughly enjoyed your visit and hope you might take a regular break here away from a busy lifestyle in Auckland. It was a shame you couldn't stay longer as you would have liked but maybe next time.
Kind regards
Glenys & Kevin

“we could live there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I and my wife stayed there for 4 nights this Christmas. The place is so well decorated and furnished tastefully. Glenys n Kevin were very caring and attentive.
You do not want to miss the homemade bread.
If you like watching stars, do not mind to grab a blanket and watch them in front of the house. You will see the whole universe.

Room Tip: Book early.

“Kids loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Our 2 kids loved staying in this lovely cottage where like others we had the whole house to ourselves, though we only used the 2 rooms we booked. Interesting period furnishings and nice touches like water carafes and glasses beside the beds. A famous dog - Buckley, who appears on the cover of a book about B&B dogs - and friendly cat Ellie were the highlights for the children. The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was more than sufficient. The only - minor - downsides were the distance from Queenstown and the tricky shower.

“Close to Paradise?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

We are three French seniors. Two nights in The Ferry. Whole house for ourselves, and plenty of wood in front of the cheminee. Much too short stay to appreciate the place. Glenis and Kevin did as much as they could for us: very warm welcome, delicious breakfast, fishing advices...
What to say? Just perfect! Too bad this fantastic place is so far away from France.

Room Tip: All rooms are vey good

“David and Claire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We wanted to give our daughter and granddaughters some respite from earthquake damage in Christchurch. We had been before and remembered The Ferry for the hospitality. We had the whole house to ourselves and arrived to a very warm welcome and a wonderful log fire. Glenys and Kevin were excellent and friendly hosts. We were all able to relax and the girls were able to unwind. There were games for the children and plenty of places nearby for fun and food. We all look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: If your party is big enough, go for the whole house. if not, the double room with en suite is lovel...

We really appreciate you taking the time to compile and submit your review. We really enjoyed having you stay with us again. Bringing your daughter and grand-daughters this time made it very special and we really hope to see you again on one of your future visits. Maybe next time your son in law will be able to come too. Hope you enjoyed your world cup games, fashion show and race meeting in Auckland and had a good trip home.
