“A good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed at the Heritage two times on our recent trip to NZ. It is a nice hotel up on the hill a short distance from downtown Queenstown, maybe about a 20 minute walk. We drove since it is up a rather long hill. The rooms were spacious and the common areas nice. It had a large restaurant that we utilized twice. The place could use a little updating of some of the facilities, but not bad. It was clean and comfortable. They had under ground parking and the staff was very helpful to us a number of times. We enjoyed the stay. It is a little removed from all the noise and clatter of downtown, and that's a good thing in my book.

“Great hotel and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Stayed for 4 nights, rooms are comfy, large beds, with all the extras like iron, hairdryer, bath and shower. The staff were very helpful in any requests/maps. I did find the wifi very frustrating as you were given 30 mins free but when you SKYPE'd anyone it was irratic and disconnected after a few mins, I since found out after purchasing an hour (it lasted 8 mins) that it was data limited.

The restaurant/bar was expensive and not many people using it, when ordering a drink it was not even a large glass. We walked into queens town which is 20 mins downhill going where there was plenty of restaurants/bars that gave better value. there is a complimentary bus that was good.

Beautiful location, some great views, generally great/clean hotel but could be better on wifi and drink/food prices and I would have then stayed at the hotel after a day of leisure activities.

“Great for families”

Every year we stay in the Heritage Lake View Villas after a few days skiing at Cardrona. The Villas are across the road from the hotel which we like as it gives you a bit more privacy and it is quieter. With 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen plus stunning lake and mountain views, the Villas are an excellent choice for an extended family.
The drawback is that it is a good 20 minute walk into the centre of Queenstown, so it is an advantage to have use of a car, although there is a shuttle bus available.
The Villas are in good condition and well maintained however the pool area in the main hotel is a little dated.
Overall, we choose this hotel again every year as it offers the best for families in Queenstown, plus we are usually able to get a discounted rate with breakfast included when we book.

Room Tip: The Heritage 'Lake View Villas' are 3 bedroom houses across the road from the main hotel and...

“On a hot summers night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This hotel is situated on a hillside just minutes from the main steet of Queenstown, overlooking breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkable ranges. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and very knowledgeable about activities and services on offer to visitors to Queenstown. They are to be commended for their willingness to ensure we had a memorable holiday and to accommodate our every need. The weather was unbelievably hot during our stay but unfortunately the hotel doesn't have air conditioning. We requested a portable fan but were informed they were all in use and to try sleeping with our balcony doors open. We did for 2 nights and it was cooler but our room was lit up by all the security lights outside and the lights and noise from passing traffic made it impossible to sleep. The morning of day 3 we requested to be shifted to a quieter room with a fan and voille, within 2 hours our requests had been met. Our reservation included a full breakfast every morning of our stay and these were delectable with a good selection of foods and beverages which were great value for money. When we were told they offer evening meals as well we knew we had to experience those too. Our first evening meal in their restaurant was a gastonomical delight with excellent service and we knew we were going to repeat the experience. Sadly our next night was completely the opposite even though we ordered the same meals we had the night before. What a big dissapointment as the food was bland and the service very slow service. There was a different chef cooking and we noted waiters/waitresses were leaving the dining room to deliver a lot of room service meals. We waited 45 minutes for our first course and there were only 2 tables including ours to be serviced when we placed our order. Would I stay there again? No, not until they got air conditioning installed. Would I dine in? No, first I would check which chef is cooking then I would order room service, it looked quicker! We were 2 in our room but only had 1 coffee cup, 1 tea cup, 1 wine glass, 4 sachets of sugar, 1 spare bath towel, no toilet brush - this was the case in both rooms we occupied during our stay. These rooms are advertised as "Lakeview deluxe" and are charged accordingly, so I would expect air conditioning, 2 bath towels per guest, and tea/coffee making facilities be checked and restocked daily.

“Beautiful place in a beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

What value for money, location and convenience! Free bus to city and back every 30 mins although it is a short walk (at least downhill!) . Great food albeit a bit expensive (though breakfast was good value). Happy hour is good, but don't be late. Staff very professional and friendly and helpful. Views exquisite. Room large, modern & comfortable, including bed. Free WiFi for 30 mins each day (1 login only, so plan your Internet use accordingly) on your own device. Use of their PC in lobby not free.

Room Tip: Not sure if lakeside views are more expensive. We had waterfall room and it was lovely to look out...
