Loved the panoramic view of Lake Wakatipu and snow-dusted mountain ranges from our room which gave onto 5 Star Lane's wide veranda. We enjoyed just sitting on the veranda with a cuppa tea or glass of sherry drinking in the view. Bedroom was large & warm, bathroom too, with strong water pressure, bathrobes & toiletries provided. The house was not charming or characterful like other B&Bs but modern, well-lived-in, cosy.
The only problem might be the parking (on the sloping pavement in front of the house) or if you're not adept at doing 3-point-turns as you can't reverse down steep Star Lane. If you're not driving it's about a half hour walk from town - find your way down to the scenic path by the lake, otherwise you'll be walking alongside the highway.
Merlin and her 2 friendly poodles were very welcoming and great company. She makes the fluffiest scones! Lots of yummy cooked breakfast choices too. And we appreciated her sitting with us over breakfast for a chat. She also kindly posted a sweater my partner left behind to our last destination. There's coffee, tea, milk, sherry, etc provided for guests in the lounge. Would recommend this B&B, except to disabled/elderly as there's a flight of stairs to ascend from the front door to the main house.
Room Tip: Ask for front room facing the veranda and lake
