We had a wonderful stay with Josef and Moto! Our accommodations were very clean and the common space is comfortable with great views of the lake. We loved meeting our neighbors, although the setup is such that you could avoid other guests if desired. Breakfast was amazing and Josef was more than helpful in helping us find our way around and plan our time in Queenstown.

The pros: We had the spa room, with a spa outside our room. This would be lovely in winter, and was heated and ready to go when we arrived. That being said, we were told that anybody in the B&B could use it (so, not a private spa as we'd assumed/thought we'd paid for) and they'd let us know if people were going to. Luckily nobody did, and we spent our two nights in the B&B watching the sunset over the lake. We were able to do a load of clothes washing here for free, which was great, and Josef kindly hung it out to dry. Breakfast had many options including fresh fruit and the possibility of eggs, though this was offered after we'd been eating for a while and so we were unsure of whether eggs were 'on the menu' for that morning or not- maybe letting us know earlier in the piece would have been useful. You can also get an hour massage of any variety for $59 which was nice. Our room was spacious and clean, Josef had a lot of knowledge about the area and was eager to offer suggestions for activities, places to go and things to see.

The cons: We felt a bit like we were left to our own devices when we arrived- usually we've found at B&Bs or hotels a welcome pack with wifi information, information about the area, and anything else relevant to the establishment. There was some booklet provided but it was in Japanese. So, we weren't able to get the wifi code until the day after we arrived as our hosts couldn't be found or were out. We also weren't sure if we could help ourselves to tea and coffee, use the TV room, etc. There were also random people living in the B&B (I think?) who weren't particularly welcoming (if they lived there) and sort of made the experience a little weird. The B&B is also on a fairly main road, so traffic noise came in through our bedroom window (of the spa room).

We recently spent time at this wonderfully comfortable & affordable B&B. The setting and the views from our room were spectacular.Our room was VERY clean and comfortable. We took advantage of the evening meal cooked by our host,Josef.It was a magnificent 3 course meal,the cheapest of all our dining experiences in NZ.Breakfast was itself a feast.We wished we could stay longer & will visit again. Our host Josef & his family made us feel very welcome( and the massage was sublime.)

I stayed here for three nights in April and didn't want to leave. The management is so friendly and helpful and Josef gave me excellent recommendations about how best to utilize my time in the Queenstown area. While not in Queenstown, I actually preferred to be closer to the airport and being in Frankton gives you easier access to Arrowtown and to head to Te Anau/Milford Sound, etc. Plus you can walk along the trail from Frankton into Queenstown, which is an easy hike that I'd highly recommend. I stayed in the newer apartment setting and had the place to myself. There are kitchen facilities, a great bathroom, and a lovely living room where I enjoyed some New Zealand wine while watching the sunset over Lake Wakatipu. Breakfast was great and Josef was very accommodating the morning I got up early for my flight out to Milford Sound. Excellent all around. I would return.
