We stayed at 858 for one week over Xmas, and this is the only place we would stay when returning. The hosts Sally and Michael are fantastic and nothing is a problem, if you need help with anything. We have a 4 year old daughter who had her own bed set up in the lounge area which didn't take away any of our space. We had a kitchen area which was great when we had breakfast, all plates, pans, cutlery are available for use and they provide great plunger coffee as well. There is a laundry available for use which was very handy when you are staying for a few or more days. Off street parking is great and it is only a 10 minute stroll into town, I had a few days of doing this when I was xmas shopping and it was way easier to walk in then have the stress of parking. We found it quiet and we all slept well, if noise worries you just request not being directly on the street units. Overall 858 is excellent service and quality, you won't find better in Dunedin.

Great quality accommodation - I was thrilled with my room. Though if stayed again I'd ask for a room back from the street since if you're a light sleeper you may notice some noise from George St. My bill was paid by the organisation hosting me in Dunedin on business - so I am not sure of the room rate but I'll definitely try to stay here again when I am next in Dunedin. I travel on business so it was good to have reasonable wifi internet ($10 for 48 hours access) and good blackout curtains on the windows to help me sleep. My room has a fantastic little kitchenette with a fridge and microwave which was very handy. The motel hosts and friendly and helpful. Close to the University and a very mangeable walk to town.

A great value property, rooms were modern and well maintained and very clean. We stayed 2 seperate nights and had a different 1 Bedroom Unit on both occasions, both were great with the kids and kitchen had everything we needed and more. A little out of the centre of town (still walkable) but was a great base to explore Dunedin. The hosts were great and couldnt offer enough advice on sightseeing and travelling in NZ etc...would stay again without hesitation next time we visit Dunedin!!
P.S By far the comfiest bed we slept in right through NZ!!

Hosts were very friendly & helpful, the family unit was everything you could hope for when travelling more like home than motel.
