“Lovely Place & Nice host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Just spent a fantastic night in this B&B two weeks ago. We are four persons and when travelling to Dunedin we preferred to try a B&B. We googled and then booked Callies B&B.

This I think is one of the best decision we made during the trip. It's in a good position to investigate the places of interests on the peninsula. All the things, comfort beds, delicious food, and lively conversation with the hosts Bruce & Jenny deeply impressed us. Certainly we have to mention the little dog Joey.

Hi Bruce, we did see the elephant rock on the way from omaru to omarama as you suggested, but had not enough time for other places near Mt Hutt.

Room Tip: room upstairs is larger.

“Felt like home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My husband and I stayed with the Callisters for Christmas. Due to the Christchurch earthquake we were delayed a day and were only able to spend one night with them, but this was no problem for them at all. We left wishing we could have spent our entire 2 weeks at Callie's B&B!

When we arrived on Christmas day we were greeted by a cheerful Jenny and Bruce who showed us our beautiful, spacious room and then invited us to eat with their family (steaks and delicious veggies... + wine and dessert). I thought this was such a nice gesture as we were away from our own families and had a rough time with the earthquake delays.

The room is gorgeous... you have your own huge bed, sitting area, and balcony. The view is stunning. A few minutes walk to Portobello stores and cafes. I would go back in a heartbeat!

“This was a lovely find: great views, food, and conversation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Callies is in a great location and the view alone is worth the visit. Jenny and Bruce are warm and welcoming; they're a fun couple to talk with. We stayed in the upstairs room which was immaculate and comfortable. The food is fantastic, especially the coffee and croissants: simply divine. As you enter Portobello from Dunedin you'll see some shops and the road will slope upwards, there was a red banner on the left that helped us spy the slightly hidden drive. They accept guests who just drive up, but considering the wonderful hospitality, their reputation will surely grow and I would advise making a reservation so you're not disappointed.

“Hosts become Friends!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

The Callies B&B in Portobello, on the Otago Peninsula is a-one-of-a-kind type of lodging.
Superbly located on the shores of Portobello Bay the room overlooks the Dunedin Harbour Inlet. Its proximity to attractions like The Royal Albatross Centre and Larnach Castle make it an ideal place to stay. Calling the daily morning meal a breakfast is an understatement!
Jenny & Bruce are great people to know!

“Great hospitality and so comfortable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2011

We received a genuinely warm welcome from Jenny and Bruce who made us feel completely at home. The room is spacious and very comfortable with a lovely balcony and private entrance. What makes Callies B&B special is the friendly hospitality and also the eye for detail in the accommodation - for example fresh fruit, flowers, thoughtful additions in the bathroom such as hand cream. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend Callies B&B!
