“Whatever you do, do NOT stay in a cabin in winter or early spring.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We stayed in a small cabin for 3 nights - it was FREEZING. We could just as well been camping. The heater was on 1h setting, so we had two choices - freeze or get up every hour to turn it back on. The receptionist didn't care when we complained, fortunately the manager had his head screwed on and gave us an extra heater. We don't know what the flats are like, but were told by the manager that all cabins have those 1h heaters for 'safety reasons.' Dreadful, especially considering that if you pay for a powered site, you can have heating on all night in your campervan.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Stayed here for 4 nights in a tourist flat. The kitchen part of the flat was well stocked. The room was a good size and clean. The flat was a bit dated in its decoration but if its clean it's all good. The holiday park itself is kept well and there are plenty of powered and non-powered sites maybe even too many. The park has easy access to the nearby beach also. Now word of advice don't bother with the wi-fi the signal where we were was too poor to open a paper bag and at $4 an hour without being able to log off is a rip-off.

“Glad we stayed here.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

We stayed at powered campsite at Dunedin Holiday Park for one night. It was early winter. We arrived quite late that night. The kitchen and dining area was clean and well equipped. The toilet was clean and hot shower available at no extra cost.
The place is close to the beach but we had to walk across a rugby field to get there.
Overall, it's a nice place to stay, and I loves the paintings along the wall of the park facilities and cabins. Funny puzzles and happy cartoon characters :-)

“Surprisingly beautiful beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We stayed just a couple nights in our Rv. Nice facilities, deluxe BBQ, little play ground and trampoline. Honestly, we don't remember much about the park itself, but what a gorgeous surprise to walk up the sand dune and discover the most beautiful long empty stretch of beach! Kids and I walked way down to the left where there are big rock with tide pools and discovered a sleepy male seal up on his throne! He ignored us and we admired from a distance. Water was cold even for February so kids just ran in up to their knees. They had the best time running and playing in the sand.

We did the 3 hour round trip scenic train ride. Me and husband loved it, kids, not so much. 3 hours of gorges, bridges, valleys was about 1.5 hours too much for them.

Best hint: first stop on a big stop to stock up on Rv supplies I bought both kids a cheap folding scooter. Every night in the Rv park they burned energy by zipping around the camp area

“Nice and quiet, need new beds!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Stopped here just for one night as I had read somewhere they are dog friendly, not the case as dogs have to stay in the car!!!
We booked an ensuite cabin, it was warm, quite dated, basic but the double bed was sagging in the middle. Just over $70 a night ,we have had better value elsewhere so would not book here again and since found out there is other dog friendly accommodation in Dunedin.

DunedinHolidayPark, Manager at Dunedin Holiday Park, responded to this review

Thank you for your review.
Our Holiday Park is classed as dog friendly as we allow the dogs to come into the park, many holiday parks, including the others in Dunedin will not even allow the dogs to stay in the vehicle.
We are in the process of updating the beds in these units.
Kind Regards
Dunedin Holiday Park
