Not a bad location. Close to the heart of the city. Beds comfortable enough. Would be better if there was internet access. However you can just hang around the octagon in town for free Internet.
This was a really nice hotel, it was very modern and clean. The staff were very helpful! It was so nice, you would expect to pay a lot more for a hotel as modern as this one. It was in a really good location too, just round the corner from the Speights Brewery & walking distance to the town centre! Overall a great place to stay in Dunedin, would definitely recommend it!!
My Husband and I arrived in Dunedin for 2 nights on the 20th of November on a very rainy afternoon. The lady at reception was extremely helpful and friendly and showed us where we could find a nice meal.
Our room was on the top floor (Studio) and looked out into the town. The view wasnt amazing but then the Plams is not located in a 'scenic' area. It is however, nicely located within 10 minutes of the CBD and 5 mins walk to the Speight's brewery.
The roomitself was very clean, extremly new and modern and comfortable. If staying here I would reccommend staying in the studio rooms.
We would reccommend staying here as it was so handy to be able to walk into town and everything was clean and comfortable
We stayed at the Palms after friends telling us about this "friendly clean and modern motel. Unforntunately this was not what we found. We were arriving after 8.30pm and as the office closed at 8.30pm we were told the key would be under the reception mat. It was pouring with rain so I got saturated trying to find the key. There was no disabled car parking so we had to park right down the bottom uncovered level in a dark poorly lit carpark. Pushing a wheelchair up a steep ramp and then carrying the luggage to the room was very draining plus a was wet through. When we arrived at our room it was cold and dark. There was a musty curry smell to greet us and the rubbish still in the kitchen bin did not impress us! The underfloor heating was not on so the bathroom was cold - not what was advertised! The couple at reception when we checked out were very disinterested. They need to sharpen up their people skills!
