My husband and I have just returned from a beautiful stay at Timara Lodge. After driving through the stunning gardens we arrived at the beautiful old historic building, which is Timara Lodge. We were greeted warmly by Debra and Louis, the managers. Debra showed us around the Lodge, very welcoming by the lit fires. The room was beautiful with great views of the parklike garden and the large lake beyond. The little details like welcome cards and fruit platters in the room were very much appreciated. But the best was yet to come. Louis cooked some of the most amazing food we had ever tried anywhere for us. It was fresh local produce and all the dishes felt modern and light with immense flavour. We started with tasty little morsels in front of the fire in the cosy lounge room. The rest of the menu just went from one highlight to the next. Especially a carrot gel was quite extraordinary. Even the home made bread was outstanding. At night the bed was turned down and some gorgeous chocolates and fresh water awaited us. We woke to a frosty morning and gorgeous birdsong and after a delicious breakfast strolled through the garden. Even under a blanket of frost it looked beautiful. The gardener was also very helpful with hints and tips for our own garden.
