“Too much noise and uncomfortable bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Firstly, it's quite a difficult place to locate. There are two entrances - one on Lambton Quay, and the other at the back of the building on The Terrace. Even though the address is Lambton Quay, you will want to use the entrance on The Terrace - easier for parking and reception is actually located here.

Room: One Bedroom Corporate Apartment
- Windows so thin you can hear traffic, people, road/building works all day and night.
- Bed uncomfortable. 2 Single Beds were pushed together to make a Queen Bed and this was very noticeable when lying in bed. Middle of the bed was very hard and raised, as they were the sides of the Single Beds pushed together.
- Cutlery & Crockery was dirty - dried bits of food stuck to them.
- Walls are quite thin; you can hear your neighbours talking/laughing etc.

As it's an Apartment Building they don't offer room service, but they do provide information and menus for some of the restaurants & cafes close by - handy!

At night, it's a nice walk from the Apartment into the centre of the city (pubs/shops)... As it's a business district, it doesn't seem to be busy at night.

I personally wouldn't stay here again, as the noise is quite unbearable and I didn't get one good night's sleep in that bed.

“Adequate, economical room for a city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Large living room and adequate separate bedroom with comfortable queen bed and two small nightstands. The modern bathroom is the third room with a shower stall. The living room has a loveseat and easy chair, TV and coffee table. There is a table with two chairs. The kitchen met all our needs with the electric kettle, toaster, ¾ refrigerator with separate freezer, and microwave, and a full complement of flatware, plates, bowls, and cups and glasses. We were able to buy groceries at the New World grocery in the Railway Station about 5 blocks away. We ate breakfast in, and cooked our Christmas dinner. Coffee, tea, milk, and sugar provided. Our room on the 5th floor (of about 8) was adequately quiet above the street. The desk staff was very helpful. Security provided through electronic access to the building.

The window shades in the living room were not darkening so there was plenty of light in the morning, even through the sliding frosted glass doors to the bedroom. Also, the windows did not seal well so there was street noise from the street only a floor below us.

“Nice, clean rooms great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel/apartment 5 or 6 times this year and find it one of the better places for value and the quality of the rooms. The apartments are contemporary and have a DVD player, TV and couches. The bedroom is separate which is rare at this price range. I generally pay around $110 for the room and think up to $140 would be fair.

Would recommend for business travelers or couples that want a nice room at a reasonable price, but it isn't a romantic hotel, everything is just functional, clean and modern.

What I find most appealing is that the staff are very polite and professional and always have paperwork ready to sign when I arrive with no hassles checking in.

My only issue with the rooms is that the lighting in the bathroom is so fluorescent, I always feel yucky when in the bathroom here.

They also now offer access to the Les Mills gym across the street (included in room)

“1 bed. apartment - spacious but noisy with no respite from bright street lighting outside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Apt 4-3 is not recommended. Noisy trucks outside from 4am mid week - no double glazing. The window blinds were terrible - white in color, thin and did not cover the full window area (gaps). Consequently the street light outside shone through the window all night long. Despite being a 1 bedroom apartment this didn't provide any relief as the sliding door from lounge to bedroom is simply frosted glass. Blackout curtains would be required to make me want to stay here again.

“Ok if you like a bit shabby.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Stayed here for two nights. The location is primo. Close to everything. But it felt grubby. The shower curtain was filthy and the vinyl lifting off the wall. The toiletries consisted of one soap and one shampoo. Overall i was disappointed as i stay in Quests a lot. But i won't be staying there again.
