This hotel really isn't up to Intercon standards. The staff are very obliging and helpful but it doesn’t make up for the fact that at least some of the rooms are in serious need of attention. The hotel has had some investment but a coat of paint doesn’t disguise that bathrooms are well past their sell-by date. And the beds seem to be of variable quality. At this level of hotel and for this kind of money, I expect rooms to be of a higher standard, and for the standard to be consistent.
Check-in and check-out didn't go smoothly. There was a problem finding my reservation when I arrived, and my bill was incorrect when I left.
There is decent restaurant with good quality food. This was good enough to tempt me and two colleagues to have dinner on two occasions. Although the food was excellent both times, one person got the wrong dish on each occasion. Of course, we could have sent it back, but that simply isn’t practical when dining with others - especially as the food took a long time to arrive in the first place
I had a couple of issues with how clean the room was. The shower door didn’t look clean towards the bottom, and one of the cups in my room was dirty.
Turndown service is minimal. The bed didn’t get turned down and the towels weren't replenished.
A nice touch is that the hotel will deliver complimentary tea/coffee if you book a wake-up call. And it arrives within a few minutes of the wake-up call.
There is a nice club lounge with helpful staff. Evening cocktails are from 1730 to 1900, which feels a little early and 30 min shorter than any other hotel I've stayed in. There is a reasonable range of snacks.
Breakfast is nice, with a reasonable buffet and a nice al-a-carte menu.
Location is good, with some rooms overlooking the water.
Internet was very slow.
Disturbingly, I had two security related incidents:
1) A colleague who arrived after me was erroneously checked into, and given a key for, the room that I was already occupying. Luckily it was my colleague but if the hotel's system lets them allocate the same room to more than one guest, I could have been faced with a complete stranger walking into my room.
2) Commercially sensitive documents that were clearly marked with a name and room number, were delivered to the wrong room. Again, it was a another colleague's room, but I worry that they could have ended up anywhere.
All in all, it feels like the hotel needs some investment in both the rooms and its systems to bring it up to the standards of other Intercon hotels I've stayed in.
