I went to the West Plaza Hotel for a dinner with 10 of my friends/family and had the most amazing meal in the restaurant. Between us we had everything on the menu and no one had any complaints about the food, to say it was delicious was an under statement. The hotel is clean and tidy and the entrance is amazing. The toilets are spanking clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was the most joyous night out with not having to worry about keeping my guests happy as the food was served beautifully and without too much of a wait which was a bonus. Thanks so much to the team who looked after us on the 12th February and I'll be sure to come back and dine again (perhaps without the feathers and costume).

We chose the hotel for its central location. The entrance and lobby area made you feel welcome.

We had a double room on the top floor at the back of the hotel overlooking a multi-storey car park. The room was on the small side though this is expected for a city centre location. The room was clean though the furnishings looked dated.

In the room was a queen bed plus a sofa (that presumably could be converted to a single bed), a desk and a small wardrobe. The mattress was too soft for my liking so I did not sleep well. In addition the room was quite warm even though we opened both windows.

The bathroom had a shower cubicle.

The hotel does have a small car park accessed via the road behind the hotel. This can fill up so suggest you book a place if you need it. The cost is $15 per day.

We did not use the restaurant, preferring instead to use local establishments. We did use the cafe on the corner of Wakefield St and Victoria St for breakfast which was great on the first morning and average on the following day. You can access a free WiFi service on this corner which is sponsored by various local organisations.

Stayed here for the New Zealand Rugby Sevens Tournament.
Hotel itself was quiet despite the event. The hotel was very helpful, provided us a roll away bed on arrival when we realised one room was booked as a queen, when we needed two seperate beds. As we extended our stay, the hotel was more than accomodating, enabling us to remain in our first room until the next room we needed to transfer to was ready. The day staff that we dealt with the most were excellent, more than happy to help us out. The rooms are basic, a little dated, but the service out ways this factor. Easy to walk to central business area, tourist spots are 5-10 mins walk such as the cable car and Te Papa.

This hotel is in a great location to see the city of Wellington. Close to Cuba St and the harbour front. The city information centre is also just across.
However we found the actual hotel room a bit old and dirty. It could do with a bit of updating. The mattress was very saggy and the basin had stains on it.
