“Great food with wonderful atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Dined here this week, and loved every moment. Authentic French atmosphere with a good French menu. The food was wonderful, can recommend the huge scallops, absolutely superb. We found the staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was very busy. We dined mid week, so I can imagine the weekends are fully booked. A great place to eat, we will return for more scallops. Make a booking and enjoy yourselves.

“A slice of France in the Bay of Plenty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

When we walked you we could have been back in the Latin Quarter of Paris, or a one of our favourite restaurants in Bordeaux city – Versailles in Tauranga is certainly authentic French. The décor, music, tables crowded together, red table clothes and the general chatter and noise plus the menu.
The menu has all the usual classical French dishes only most sport New Zealand names and descriptions with an attraction that you can get a light version of each as a main that is great for those on a diet. Amongst the main course menu our party enjoyed the Duck breast & leg with a Cointreau and orange zest sauce, and the Chicken Breast stuffed with spinach and wrapped in ham and served in a steaming oven dish of cheese sauce.
The service was prompt and the whole group of seven were all served together with no mistakes
The typical French formule menus (fixed price 3 course menus with limited selection of entree, mains and desserts) are excellent value and range from $48.50 to $62.50.
The only negatives were that we had to wait about 20 minutes to get our orders taken and the waiter grumped that he was waiting for our party to stop talking before taking the orders. Also I certainly missed the traditional French baguette slices on the table – how is a Frenchman to wipe his plate clean and enjoy all those wonderful sauces?
Finally this is a popular restaurant so you do need to book.
