We stayed here for a week. We requested a quiet room and we got a quiet room on the top floor. The City Limits is located right near the Parliament Train Station and being on Little Bourke Street is only a street away from the Bourke Street tram lines so travel anywhere was a breeze. Being in Chinatown meant there were restaurants everywhere to suit any budget, and not just Asian cuisine.
The room we had was clean, well maintained and pleasant enough with nice oblique city views, we didn't expect exciting decor so were not disappointed with its simplistic style. Although I did get rather attached to a painting of a zebra with it's reflection in wet sand that I'd probably rate as one of the more interesting pieces of hotel art I've seen on walls.
The kitchenette comprised of a refrigerator, sink, microwave, jug, toaster, double hotplate (in cupboard), frying pan, sauce pan, some other basic cooking utensils, and minimal crockery, glasses etc. It also had a breakfast bar rather than a table. There were laundry facilities downstairs that comprised of a washing machine and 2 dryers, with hours approx. between 8am-8pm. We were pretty busy and never in during those times so didn't use them. But they did have a laundry service.
Breakfast was delivered to the fridge each day, it comprised of: 2 slices of bread each (1 white, 1 wholegrain), 2 jams each, 1 butter each, 1 pottle of orange juice each, and milk. There was also 2 single serve boxes of cereal (Special K & Nutrigrain). We don't know if the cereal types changed each day because we didn't feel compelled to eat them. We went and bought eggs and had french toast for breakfast most days.
The beds were comfortable, they had heavy duvets which didn't work the best for warm weather, but easy enough to strip off. The aircon was fairly quiet, which was nice. There wasn't really a sitting room layout in our studio, but since we were busy out most of the time we didn't really need it, and the TV was perfectly watchable from the bed.
The front desk was manned 24hrs and the staff there were helpful anytime asked for assistance. Security was via an electronic toggle at the front door and electronic keys for personal rooms, which meant no-one was coming into the building without key access.
Overall, we were pleased with our stay here as it met our needs comfortably. I thought this was excellent value for money because we weren't buying into more than we needed without sacrificing cleanliness, pleasantness, location, and security. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
