After three days of meetings in Melbourne, and city hotels, this was the perfect place to stay and unwind. Formerly a 19th century bakery - and baker's house; quiet; spotlessly clean ( in contrast to the inner city hotel); comfortable; wonderfully located on the edge of both the CBD and Docklands; a minute's stroll to La Trobe Street and the (free) City tram; fantastic breakfast with great coffee and nothing too much trouble for Paul (including my getting my check in time wrong).
My room was large and not being a sealed hotel cube it was not necessary to turn on the A/C to circulate air; no en suite but with a separate private bathroom that was shower only - I had imagined a claw footed bath that I was looking forward to - and a very comfortable King bed. What would not normally have even been noticed (but this is something that city hotels do very well to distract one from everything else) the in room flat screen TV was small.
This is a niggardly reflection and I would not normally have cared or even seen it, but the quarter finals of the RWC were on. I could have and should have gone downstairs to the house sitting room which had a large TV and an honour bar.
Paul recommended a couple of local pubs which had reputations for good food a minute's stroll north, also suggested some of the eateries in Docklands and made sure that I was geographically orientated, and safe, before stepping outside into a strange city in the dark.
Robinson's is about an eight minute walk to where my Melbourne meetings are usually held. I am thinking it is a far better option, than the inner city hotel, for the next set of meetings and will be suggesting it to my counterparts.

Amyrlin,
Firstly, I'm sorry that you found the flatscreen LCD TV in the guestroom too small and we didnt have the claw foot bathtub that you had imagined. Al least we didnt have a picture of one and when you turned up it wasn't there!
But if these are the only negatives you could come up with - then I am a happy B&B operator.
Secondly, thanks for taking the time to write an extensive review, you picked up on a lot of our great features - location, proerty and room features and the personal touch that we offer.
I hope you can make it back to Melbourne soon for another lot of meetings - or perhaps a more liesurely visit..
Cheers, Paul.
