“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed at Robinsons in the City for 3 nights whilst in Melbourne for the Australian Tennis Open. Paul was an excellent host, very helpful and friendly. The location is great a 10 min walk to the tram and 15 mins to the CBD. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The facilities were great, tea and coffee anytime and the breakfast was one of the best I have had Paul is a great cook.
I would thoroughly recommend this B&B to anyone and all emails to Paul were quickly replied to he even collected a package that arrived for us after we had left!!

Leone, I hope you got the package OK, I did have to talk my way through collecting it at the post office! I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us and also the tennis this year and you liked my breakfasts. You have highlighted one of our strongpoints "location" which offers easy access to the city, docklands and southbank. I hope all is well in Vietman and we get to see you for the Aust Open in the future. Cheers, Paul.

“Great place to say and wonderful host”

Paul was a great host with loads of helpful tips, always obliging and friendly(good as a crossword companion). Very efficient in booking trips not just for me but other guests. It was more like staying with friends than a B and B. One could help themselves to tea or coffee at any time of the day or night. The room was lovely with added touches like towelling bathrobes, the lounge comfy with a vast selection of books both fiction and travel. free wi-fi was an absolute boon. Even though I had a really early flight Paul was up to give me breakfast and make sure I got off safely.
My only little gripe was sometimes not emptying bins and slight superficial cleaning of the bathroom.

Hey mahl_12, thanks for talking the time to write your review of Robinsons. I have taken onboard your "little gripe" regarding bathroom housekeeping and will ensure that the standard lifts in that area. I am glad, that on the whole you were more than happy with Robinsons, our guest services and you appreciated the crossword completion assistance!! Cheers, Paul.

We stayed in the Robinsons in the City only for 2 nights but we enjoyed it every second. Paul the host is one of the persons which goes the "extra mile" he is friendly helpful and always there if you need his help. He booked a city tour for us and his pancakes are the worlds best! Also his suggest for a Sushi restaurant was perfect!

The Dudley room we stayed in was excellent - warm and very comfortable.

We can recommend this B&B !!!

Nicel,

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us on TripAdvisor.

Adding the personal touches is what makes us different from the mainstream properties. It is always the one-percent things people do for you that you remember and makes a holiday special.

I'm glad you enjoyed the tours, the fresh blueberry pancakes and the little Japanese restaurant that is a favourite of ours in the city.

Seasons Gretings and best widhes for 2012.

Cheers, Paul.

“Best Melbourne Accommodation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

After reading the many positive reviews of this B&B on this very website, we booked our accommodation with RITC. From the very beginning, with the initial booking phone call, Paul was attentive, honest, courteous, organised and thoughtful. Emails were responded to promptly and Paul also offered to take care of booking our day trip tours too. The location and room were ideal for us. Large spacious room and peace and quiet were found here. Located near to the CBD and all transport links. Breakfasts were generous and hearty, not to mention fresh and made to order! Paul's friendly advice as to what to see to make the most out of our week long trip to Melbourne was greatly appreciated. We were made to feel at home at RITC and this has spoiled us for all future hotel stays. They would not be adequate in comparison!

“If (when) in Melbourne, this is a great place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

After three days of meetings in Melbourne, and city hotels, this was the perfect place to stay and unwind. Formerly a 19th century bakery - and baker's house; quiet; spotlessly clean ( in contrast to the inner city hotel); comfortable; wonderfully located on the edge of both the CBD and Docklands; a minute's stroll to La Trobe Street and the (free) City tram; fantastic breakfast with great coffee and nothing too much trouble for Paul (including my getting my check in time wrong).
My room was large and not being a sealed hotel cube it was not necessary to turn on the A/C to circulate air; no en suite but with a separate private bathroom that was shower only - I had imagined a claw footed bath that I was looking forward to - and a very comfortable King bed. What would not normally have even been noticed (but this is something that city hotels do very well to distract one from everything else) the in room flat screen TV was small.
This is a niggardly reflection and I would not normally have cared or even seen it, but the quarter finals of the RWC were on. I could have and should have gone downstairs to the house sitting room which had a large TV and an honour bar.
Paul recommended a couple of local pubs which had reputations for good food a minute's stroll north, also suggested some of the eateries in Docklands and made sure that I was geographically orientated, and safe, before stepping outside into a strange city in the dark.
Robinson's is about an eight minute walk to where my Melbourne meetings are usually held. I am thinking it is a far better option, than the inner city hotel, for the next set of meetings and will be suggesting it to my counterparts.

Amyrlin,

Firstly, I'm sorry that you found the flatscreen LCD TV in the guestroom too small and we didnt have the claw foot bathtub that you had imagined. Al least we didnt have a picture of one and when you turned up it wasn't there!

But if these are the only negatives you could come up with - then I am a happy B&B operator.

Secondly, thanks for taking the time to write an extensive review, you picked up on a lot of our great features - location, proerty and room features and the personal touch that we offer.

I hope you can make it back to Melbourne soon for another lot of meetings - or perhaps a more liesurely visit..

Cheers, Paul.
