The two-bedroomed apartment was comfortable and spacious. The location is great, right in the centre of the city. It is ideal for transport and shopping. To attend the Australian Open Tennis it is the best. I have stayed in various hotels over the years but have been coming here three years in succession. The tram stop is right in front of the door, the train station is within walking distance and taxis are everywhere. It is surrounded by shops and convenient stores, post office, cafes, take-aways, restaurants and supermarkets are all close by. The hotel even held a drinks and snacks party for their Australian Open guests (and I suppose including the non-tennis guests) during the event. A nice touch.
The staff are friendly and our 2 x newspapers were delivered at the room door each morning. As women travelling together we felt safe and very much at home at the Somerset.
We'll be back next year.

Lovely large apartment with full kitchen facilities including a washing machine/dryer and a dishwasher.
This is not a conventional hotel but a series of apartments with 24 hour reception desk.
Great location in Centre of Melbourne, however, there is major reconstruction work occurring on the block behind the hotel which was very noisy at times.
No wireless internet - go to nearest McDonalds was their advice!

Friendly and helpfull staff. The single deluxe room was excellent and very good value, separate bedroom and living area and planty of space. Valet parking is an extra charge of $30+ a day that I wasn't aware of and was a bit tricky due to there being no parking space in front of the hotel. There is a loading zone but it was always occupied. I had to illegally park on the corner with my hazard lights flashing to offload our luggage.
The room I had was facing Elizabeth Street and early morning wake up was not required due to the noise from the trams, this was the only downside.
Great location close to all the major department stores. I would recommend for couples and heavy sleepers!

I would love to see extra kitchen tools and a clean blankets
