I stayed at the Mantra for one night to see The Wall concert at Rod Laver Arena. I couldn't have asked for a better located hotel for this purpose. It is also a very nice 5 minute walk to the National Gallery of Victoria Ian Potter Centre and a 10-15 minute walk to the CBD (Bourke Street Mall) so very well located. I stayed in room 818 which overlooked the Rod Laver Arena and faced out to the rail tracks. Other reviewers have mentioned the noise of the trains at night but I must admit that I found it rather relaxing background noise. The staff were very helpful with maps and how to get around. The room service meal was good (fish and chips, vegetarian pizza) and the room light and spacious enough for 2 king singles, a 2 seater dining table and TV. I agree with other reviewers that the place is a 3 to 3.5 star but not a 4. The room, whilst comfortable, was average and needed updating. The bathroom was also showing its age and at some stage, a tile had been fixed onto other tiles around the shower with plaster and paint all down the shower screen frame - it looked like whoever did it just didn't care what it looked like. Other than this, the place is quite comfortable to stay in and I would definitely stay there again for the proximity to Rod Laver Arena and the other tennis courts etc.
