“Clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

We stayed at the Seasons Botanical for 5 days on our first trip to Melbourne. Reception staff very efficient and friendly on checkin and throughout. We stayed in a Studio Apartment Room, was very clean, spacious and a really comfy bed. For some strange reason there were no bowls available for soup or cereal??? We asked for bowls a number of times but they never turned up??? We made do sharing the pyrex casserole dish!!!! Needs a light in kitchen area, very dark. It is a 15 minute walk to Flinders Station and Federation Square. Botanical Gardens and Shrine of Remberence opposite. Trams close by if required.

Room Tip: Our room was on 5th Floor and had views of more apartments, but very quiet.

“A little disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Brought my family here, so 4 adults in a 2 bedroom unit.

Good:
Enough room for everyone
Kitchen has all appliances and plates and cutlery
Tv in main room and in each bedroom (3 in total )
Washer and dryer
Internet ($30/day)
Good value, for little more than a hotel room you can house 4 people

Bad:
lifts can be slow
Swipe card did not work on day 2 of a 5 day stay
No soap! Had to ask and it was delivered - perhaps an oversight
Breakfast buffet is crap! One of the worst hot buffets I've ever had
Room service food is also crap! Neither my wife or parents liked anything ordered except hot chips which can't go wrong
Service slow - asked for extra towel took 30 mins to arrive
Asked for help with bags from concierge , took 10 mins to get help

Overall I think this is a good value place but wouldn't stay here again as food and service not good. But the apartment is spacious. There are other places in cbd that are better

“Excellent hotel, would use again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Hotel location good, away from noise of city, on a tram route, looking at park etc. Some reception staff were a bit useless, but the main man during the day, Joe I think, was excellent. Booked direct online, selecting a "run of the house" offer which promised best available room at check in, BUT on showing up we were allocated the worst room type on the booking. I questioned this and was immediately given a one bedroom suite on top floor with great views. Dishonest or disorganised, who knows. Pool is small and coolish, but ok. Didn't use the souless bar or restaurant, but on advice from front of staff there is a great japanese just behind the hotel.
The kitchen is compact in th extreme, but has what you need and isn't intrusive. First thing to do on getting into room is set the fridge to a worthwhile setting, as they leave them on just about tepid.
Overall, a good base to get out and about, a few mintes from the city, chapel street or st kilda, and good value if you get a deal.

“Shabby and run down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

First the good things. The rooms are large and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good. The whole hotel seems tired and run down. The rooms have 1980s furniture, the lifts and balcony were dirty. The TV was old and had duct tape on it. The room I stayed in was poorly equipped - there was one glass and one wine glass and no tea towels. The corridors are dark and oppressive, with dark wood and carpets, making the hotel look dingy rather than classy. I was given a room on a low floor (I was told that I was allocated it because I'd booked using Wotif - if I'd booked directly with the hotel I'd have been given a higher room with a nice view). The room was serviced on the first day, but for some reason not the second. I asked for a better room and was told that they'd try and accommodate me the next day. They didn't bother to get back to me. All in all, not recommended.

“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed here for 4 nights during the Australian Open Tennis in January The room was clean and comfortable. I got upgraded to a one bedroom apartment. The room had a kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine. I can't really comment because I barely used these. There was a gym and pool which I didn't use either. Newspapers were delivered in the morning which was nice. Room service was quite reasonable on the late night menu. Housekeeping was good. Fridge was large and had a freezer which came in very handy. Bed was huge and comfortable. Air conditioning worked fine. Staff were friendly. Location is OK, but not perfect. It is next to the Botanic Gardens but it is a bit of a walk to the city centre. Fortunately Melbourne has a system of Bike Share hire bikes with a station located very close to this hotel. Helmets are required by law and are hard to find. Best to get them straight away at the Southern Cross train station.

My only complaints are are about the TV. The TV in the lounge was a nice big flat-screen, the one in the bedroom was a pretty small CRT TV (a downside of getting a one bedroom apartment). It was nice that selected pay TV was available for free, but reception was poor and in odd aspect ratios. My other gripe is that internet costs $10 per hour. I don't know if all hotels do this but I have stayed at backpackers with a free hot spot so I don't see why an expensive hotel can't do this.
