I booked this hotel as a WotIf Wot Hotel deal and I was over the moon to discover that we would be staying at the Hilton! I stayed here with my Mum as a trip for her birthday to see Eminem.

Upon arrival the lobby was truly breathtaking and the hotel staff were more than helpful. They were very busy attending to a group of Emirates crew and pilots but made sure that we weren't held up queueing. They took our luggage and promised to call as soon as our room was ready - they actually DID!

Our room was clean and tidy, but a bit dated including the TV and bathroom. This didn't bother us at all, the only thing that we cared about was that it was clean and tidy, which it was. I was expecting a little more flash since it was the Hilton though.

One of the best features was the heavy curtains. I thought that we'd be very awake facing the blazing lights of the MCG but we didn't see a single light or hear any street noise. Unfortunately we were too busy to use the hotel facilities.

The location was absolutely perfect! Since we only stayed for a few days we weren't going to hire a car. Jolimont station is fantastic to get to the CBD but we didn't use the trams even though they were right out the front too.

When I needed to online check in for our flights home the staff helped me out with using the business centre which is well equipped for business people with multiple computers.

This hotel is great for people who don't want to stay in the hustle and bustle of the CBD but still need easy access to everything without a car.

Stayed here a little while ago on a secret deal via last minute. Everything was grand on entry as you would expect. Headed up to our room which was nice but being the Hilton I expected a little large and more wow. It was like we were given the grey nomad pack. After returning later in the night I found that my room backed onto the lift shaft which noisy and struggled to get to sleep. Overall good just don't get a room where your bed backs onto the lift. Boy pillow as it was very soft and flat.

Stayed here during the Australian Open tennis finals and the location is excellent. Directly opposite the MCG and even closer to a railway station, this is ideal for sports fans. The hotel itself is showing its age a bit but is pretty well maintained and service is good. We stayed on the Executive Floor, which has identical rooms to the other floors, but provides access to the Lounge which is great. Service is the lounge is first class, breakfast was great, but the evening snacks were so so.

I called ahead to advise that Jetstar had messed us around with our flights and I asked if we could request an earlier check in. Whilst they couldn't promise it (understandibly) as they were fully booked due to the tennis, we were pleasantly surprised on our arrival to be given our room. The staff at the reservations desk were pleasant and engaging and most helpful in providing us with directions to our restaurant venue booked that evening. The room was clean and your typical Hilton styling and the proximity to both the tennis centre and MCG a real plus if you're off to a game. It is not in the centre of town but it's a short tram ride to all the action for some retail therapy and more. We would happily return!
