We recently went on the Great Ocean Road Tour with this company. We were completely amazed by the entire experience!
To start with, Garry was extremely helpful in booking and in suggesting/recommending things to do while in Australia. We were very excited about the tour and couldn't wait to meet him. He answered all of our questions promptly and replied via email within a few hours!
Upon arriving in Australia, Garry was kind enough to check in and make sure we arrived OK. He met us promptly at our hotel, at the agreed upon start time, and we were off. This company specializes in small, unique tours, so instead of jumping in a large bus where our day would be dictated by a strict schedule, we climbed into a comfortable and roomy SUV and were treated to a customizable experience. Throughout the day we were able to see more attractions versus having to stick to a schedule and got to explore more thoroughly at each site we went to, which was of great importance to us. We were also able to give feedback on our day - if there was something we didn't want to miss, Garry made sure that we saw it, and we always had the option to stay at one place longer or head to the next earlier. It was great to have so much control over the day, ensuring that our Australian visit was the best it could possibly be!
Garry also treated us to morning tea and lunch and had all the comforts you would need for a long drive throughout this beautiful part of the Country. Throughout the day, we only had to ask to learn more about what we were seeing, and it was great to have someone so knowledgeable to guide us. He also acted as our personal photographer, which was nice, and I'd like to think that we all did a bit of bonding along the way!
For those that are interested in this particular tour, we saw amazing coastlines, beautiful rainforests, lighthouses, and animals (we tried to spot koalas and fed some very friendly birds). We also stopped for pictures at nearly every outlook, saw the 12 Apostles, London Bridge, Razor Back, and more! I'll include photos, as we thought the tour was breathtaking! But like I said, if you wanted to see more or less, you can always tell Garry and he'll make sure that gets added to the agenda. If you are going on this trip, I'd suggest bringing a sweater or warm jacket because the weather can often change from sunny and warm to cold and windy (which it did while we were there). However, if you are unprepared, Garry did have blankets and towels in the back, and he'll also make you hot chocolate with actual milk! AND, you can even take a little nap in the car on the way back after a long day...I dare you to try and keep your eyes open! It is so nice to have someone else do the driving so that you don't worry about traffic or trying to stay awake.
Overall, you can't beat the extra attention to detail, customization and customer service you get with this tour operator. They know how to do this type of tour right and spending the extra money will gaurantee that your day is exactly that - YOUR day. Not hoping on/off a bus, stressed about time and not getting to see everything you want, rather a fun, enjoyable, relaxed day that is all up to you. We did see a few bus tours roll through but it never appeared that anyone got to do much aside from take a few photos. Not one of them walked down to the beaches, which I thought was one of the best highlights of the day. Seeing the caves, formations and water up close was the best part!
All that said, we would highly recommend this tour to anyone and Garry was a great host! Thanks so much! Hopefully we can make it back to try the Outback Tour soon!!
