Firstly we had trouble finding this place. When we finally got to our room it was tiny, really not an apartment but a crowded small hotel room. I would not recommend this to anyone.

On a girls shopping weekend. Apartment was new and very clean, except for sticky tiles on the bathroom floor and infront of the kitchenette. Carpets had a couple of stains and fridge had a really bad odour. Location was good. Customer service was fantastic, as good and probably better than some 5 star hotels. It had a small stove, microwave, fridge, cutlery, crockery - pretty much everything we needed. Noise was not a problem at all. Catch the airport shuttle - the door to door one for $15.00 each way, much better than the $65.00 taxi ride! Would stay here again.
I stayed at this hotel for a last minute trip to Melbourne. Absolutely fantastic for this and the rooms were excellent for the price (think I got a special for $99) They are quite large for a studio apartment and the hotel is new so they rooms don't feature any wear yet. I was able to check in early quite easily and had no problems whatsoever (but to be fair I didn't really have a need for anything other than check in)
For somebody who is not familiar with the city it may be a harder place to find and there is some construction nearby but I did not hear any of this.
For the price and location (right in the heart of the CBD), this place is one of Melbourne's best kept secrets. As it's on a laneway, it's hard to find unless you book the Starbus shuttle, which clearly does a lot of drop-offs in the area. Staff lovely, including the lady who cleaned our room each day .
I stayed at Cube over the weekend with a friend and we were quite happy with our accommodation.
We had a twin room and it also has a small kitchenette. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We wanted to be able to prepare our own meals as my friend has health issues that require her to be careful of what she eats so this was a good setup.
It would have to be the quietest location I have ever stayed at in Melbourne, even though we had a room next to the lift we had no noise problems. I wouldn't class this as a central location, it is a 5 minute walk to central station and there is a tram line about 20 metres away, however the trams at this end of town are not so frequent. The location was fine for us as we were happy to do a bit of walking, but it did feel a little out of the way.
We had the airport shuttle drop us off and we were dropped off in a narrow street and told to walk around the corner to our accommodation. There were building works in Exploration Lane and if I hadn't recognised the apartments from the picture on the internet I probably wouldn't have felt very confident walking through the builders.
So although this was a great place to stay I probably wouldn't stay here again only because of the location and I usually travel with young children - then again there is definitely something to be said for a quiet location!
