“Excellent location and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed here for one week during the Australian Open tennis tournament. The location was excellent - we could walk to all the key sights, including the tennis. The hotel is on a narrow side-street but very close to a shopping centre with food stores etc. The apartment itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed including a small balcony, safe, reasonably equipped kitchen and a very good television on which to watch the tennis we didn't have tickets for! This was the best value of the 4 different places we stayed during our 3 weeks in Australia and we would definitely recommend it.

“Book the Studio Executive Room – you won’t regret it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We had reserved a Studio Deluxe room but when we arrived the room was way too small for us (there wasn’t even floor space or closet space to stash our luggage). When we asked the manager at the front desk if a larger room was available, he was gracious enough to let us view a Studio Executive and a Studio Premier room. The Studio Executive room – their mid-range room - was perfect and for a modest upgrade fee we were able to settle into this lovely space with beautiful, natural light and a handy little balcony.

The hotel is in a good location and within walking distance to just about everything. It is also close to Woolworths so you can stock up on basics and stash the snacks in the refrigerator in the room. The room was very well appointed and even included a proper, professional-style hair dryer.

While we were staying at the Fraser, they had a special offer of complimentary breakfast each day but for only one person staying in the room. From a marketing perspective, I think it would have made more sense to offer “two for the price of one” or 4 breakfast coupons to use as we wished during our four-day stay as that would have made us more likely to have taken advantage of the offer. Nevertheless, with the room stoked with dish sets and utensils and Woolworths so close by, we were able to enjoy our personally prepared meals en-suite. The only thing the Fraser could do to improve their kitchen set up would be to provide paper towels in the room or one extra dishtowel.

The only reason why I am knocking a half-point off of my recommendation is because the bath towels are in need of an update (one towel placed on the rack had some pretty bad stains on it). Aside from this minor flaw, the Fraser is a great value for the price: it is clean, modern and centrally-located plus the staff are very accommodating.

Room Tip: Unless you only travel with a small backpack, you'll find the Studio Deluxe too small. Try to ge...

“Location, location, location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

If you are looking for a service apartment in Melbourne near to all amenities, transportation, restaurants, and parks etc, then Fraser Place is ideal. The apartments come in various sizes and cleaned everyday. The pantry provided is good for warming food and making beverage. Because of its proximity to restaurants we ate out most of the time. The complimentary circle tram stops nearby and is a convenient way to start exploring the city and visit all its attractions. The staff were very helpful and assisted us in arranging for car hire, tours and recommending restaurants. The only drawback is that the apartment block is located in a small alleyway which may be blocked by vehicles sometimes. It happened when we were there and our transport was not able to drop us at the front door.

“Satisfactory stay for a great price.”

Booked two king apartments for three nights mainly due to the price we were offered and reviews we read on TripAdvisor. Check in was hassle free although a $150 AUD bond was required. Rooms were clean (although there were small mould spots on shower wall), modern and comfortable; albeit, slightly smaller than other serviced apartments i have stayed at. Quiet at night, allowing for a good nights rest. The staff are efficient and professional but not really all that warm. The breakfast is a set menu; your choice of continental breakfast or eggs done a few ways with tea, coffee or juice. At $15 AUD a pop there are better options within a short walking distance, unless you have free breakfast as part of your deal. The free tram which circumnavigates the Melbourne CBD has a stop within 200 meters walk. There is a small supermarket next to the tram stop which offers alcoholic beverages also. Good shopping and Chinatown are an easy five minute stroll away. Would stay there again if the price was right.
