Average room comfort for 5-star hotel, Great view from floor-to-ceiling windows, New gym equipment, Good service overall but concierge failed to bring our luggage to our rooms until I reminded them twice over 30 minutes after we checked-in

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf for 2 nights in a King Room and loved it! The hotel was modern and stylish, with an impressive lobby and exterior. The room was spacious (38 square meters) and extremely luxurious. It had excellent views from its floor-to-ceiling windows. The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable - and it had so many pillows!! The bathroom was large, with a separate walk-in shower and bath. The hotel is located right next to DFO South Wharf, which is great for shopping. Open-air parking was available at the DFO for $20/night, which we took advantage of. The only drawback was that it was a little far from the centre of Melbourne – a 10 minute walk to the edge of the CBD. Nevertheless, we would highly recommend this hotel. Definitely deserving of its 5 star rating!!!

I spend so much time travelling and I find this hotel the most consistent. Staff are amazing nothing is a problem and the gym is my favorite Australian hotel gym.

Hilton network hasn't always had the consistent record for service or facilities but I couldn't fault this one and was glad to have stayed here on our holiday to Melbourne. Check in was smooth and professional and our bags were actually in our room before we got to the room! We stayed in two rooms on a higher floor overlooking the harbour and with the floor to ceiling windows we had amazing views (ask for rooms looking onto harbour side rather than the highway). We didn't hear any noise from the highway at all. The bathroom had a bath and a walk in shower, and everything was very very clean. This one definitley deserved the 5 stars and it was very good value due to it being bit out of the city centre (but this was very handy for us as we were driving back to Sydney). It was also an easy drive from airport as you don't need to go into the city centre with the tram network but if you are a visitor like me, then I would take the toll option from your hire car company as you can't pay cash on the highway in melbourne on this route.
Parking was easy at the car park opposite the hotel and you need to validate the parking ticket with reception to get the discounted $20 daily rate rather than the normal $28 rate. However when I put the ticket in the machine at the car park the rate said $28 rather than $20, so I just took the ticket out and put it in the machine next to it and it said $20. It seems to work at every second try.
Our rate included breakfast and it had everything you can think of, from hot and cold items to made to order french toast etc and also deli items such as smoked salmon, smoked meats and salads. Would definitely recommend if it's included in your rate.
There is a outlet shopping centre right next door with a food court downstairs that was a lot cheaper than eating at places right on the harbour. A short walk and you're at the main entertainment area of the casino and it took about 15 minutes to walk to edge of city centre to catch the free tram.
