Located just off popular Salamanca Place which has markets every Saturday is this excellent Greek restaurant. It is a favourite of ours when visiting Hobart for good value quality food in a nice atmosphere. Open long hours and with an extensive menu catering for everyone including traditional Greek fair and more regular dining options.

This restaurant really stands for that authentic Greek food. The herbs, spices, and flavours are superb. The menu is very broad and pretty much caters for everyone. Portion sizes are also great. We love the staff who seem to make a real effort at making you feel comfortable and always friendly.

I did enjoy my visit to Mezethes, and the Dips were awesome!

However we made the mistake of ordering the Seafood platter ($31per person), which was horrible... We order seafood platters at almost all the restaurants we go to, however i have never come accross one i didnt want to eat. The fish was riddled with bones and not very tasty. It had NO SAUCES, none... nothing - basically a plate of cooked (not seasoned or ANYTHING) seafood.
We did request some dip with it, which came, and made eating some of it bearable, but it really just was not enjoyable.
When we mentioned the issue, and advised it wasn't very tasty, they didn't seem bothered, which was disappointing.

HOWEVER i did see plenty of people there who had ordered other dishes, which looked amazing. I would return to Mezethes(not in a rush though), however i would avoid ordering any Platter (I saw the meat one too - and it was just meats... no sauces - the people eating it looked as disappointed as i was with ours).

Make sure you get the dips to start - YUM.

Service was good - apart from not caring that the meal was well below standard.

Also the toilets are horrible (but they arent owned or maintained by methezes)

I've been here 3 times, and never once satisfied. unfortunately the food is overly oily, and not tasty, yet pricey
