My only complaint was a poor system of passing on phone messages.

Not very central and the rooms are really, really old including all the furniture. we didn't have a tv in our bedroom but in a connected smaller room, which for some weird reason had no couch but just 2 chairs in it. wouldn't go there again.

My partner, friend and I stayed here for 4 nights early January. We had booked 2 rooms and requested that they be next to each other. We called a week before our arrival to double check that this was all ok, were promised that we'd definitely be next door to one another. When we arrived at the hotel some changes had been made and our rooms were not together, and we had a few other small issues with our booking. As returning guests (this was at least our seventh visit to Rydges Hobart) we were unhappy with how we'd been treated so we asked to speak with the manager who was incredibly apologetic and promised to fix the issues as soon as he could. The next day our friend was moved into the room next to us. He also offered for the three of us to have dinner free of charge that night at the hotels restaurant. Dinner was absolutely delicious. We all had steak and loved it! I had been a bit unsure about coming back to stay here as the last time some of the staff had been rude and very unhelpful. The one thing that got me back was the amazing Rydges Dream Mattress. It is like sleeping on a cloud! The new manager Danny is doing fantastic things here and we could already see many improvements. This time the staff were wonderful, very helpful and just lovely people all round. If it had been a little bit warmer we would have been in the newly refurbished pool for sure! The food in the restaurant was lovely - we ate here 2 out of 4 nights. I like where the hotel is positioned, its not right in the city but it only takes just over 10 minutes to drive through the city and into Sandy Bay. We had beautiful views from our rooms upstairs and I think that it is great value for money. Yeah, the rooms are a little older than some places we have stayed, but I think they're good, very spacious. We ended up having a really lovely time and are looking forward to our next visit.

We stay in Hobart approx three times each year.This was the worst stay. We decided to spend the long weekend in January at Rydes, had never stayed before and it was going to be our last opportunity to get away before our baby arrives. This hotel is the worst we have ever stayed at in hobart and will never return, the shower screen was not connected and water went all over the floor and it was so dirty and stained, not to mention ants, there was spider webs all over the unit and it was dirty and smelly, all the floors was old timber floors and everyone of them made noises and was loose to the point we did think they would not hold up, the spa was so old and cracked and dirty there was no way either of us was going to get in, the flooring had just had bad fix it patches and you had to be so careful not to get splinters or trip over, the weekend was so hot in hobart and the room had no A/C or fan, to top it off the room was near the kitchen and when trying to sleep all you could hear was the chillers cutting in and out. We will never stay here again and we will never recommend it to anyone, they should not be able to charge rooms like ours out, when we checked in we had been told they had upgraded us twice so I hate to think what the rest of the rooms are like, we took photos but only a couple turned out. We would have gone to another hotel, but it was the long weekend and hobart was fully booked.
