Not a good experience when we first arrived as it was a unseasonally hot day and the room air conditioning was faulty. Apparently, there was a small problem with one of the air conditioning units in the hotel.) But it did not take long before the front desk moved use to another room, albeit a smaller one. For convenience the location of the hotel is well located - five minutes walk to either the waterfront restaurants, the city area; and slightly longer walk to Salamanca Square.
If you are driving note there is no provision for off-street parking but there is a public carpark with discounted rates next behind the hotel. Free street parking is between 6pm and 8am the next day, and free all day parking on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a small restaurant/cafe in the lobby area.

This is altogether a good hotel. My room was in great conditions, especially when compared to the other hotels I have stayed at in Australia. My impression is that Australian hotels tend to be a bit more poorly maintained than hotels in other parts of the world. My only complaint about the room is the shower. The shower head is fixed and so you need to stand right underneath it to shower. However, if you do so, your right arm will constantly run into the sharp corners of the soap holder. I scratched myself a few times from that.

The location of the hotel is good. Collins Street itself, especially the section of it on which hotel is located, is not that exciting. But the hotel is quite close to the harbor front and Salamanca Square. In all fairness though, downtown Hobart is so small that I think any hotel in the area will be close to the harbor front.

The staff is friendly enough, and probably more so than the staff in other hotels I have stayed at in Australia.

On arrival were upgraded to a better room (as I like a room away from the lifts to minimise noise). The room had everything you needed, flat screen tv,free internet cable connected.
But we found it rather small ( not sure how big the other room would have been). The safe & fridge were in the wardrobe so didn't leave a lot of room for clothes etc. We had 4 bags as we were in Australia for 4 weeks and manged to get some bags on top of the wardrobe (but they came down rather dusty). This would not probably bother lighter travellers.

Breakfast was not included but you had a choice in the lobby downstairs they also served meals of an evening. We only ate of a morning and this was fine. (wheelchair users would find this hotel okay as had large lifts etc).

It was quite near to the front at Hobart and restaurants and shops.( The hills were not too bad to the shops but was quite flat to the front and restaurants)

Would have no hesitation at staying at this hotel again, the staff were wonderful and the level of cleanliness in the normal areas was very good.

Good hotel and location but rooms a little small otherwise a great place to stay..
