Simply put, this was a wonderful place to stay.
I had never stayed at a B & B before, so I was a little nervous. There was nothing to be afraid of, however, as the hosts, Peter and Penny, made me feel right at home.
There are two rooms for rent--I stayed in the upstairs room with a commanding view of Smith Bay in the distance. There is a separate sitting area below the upstairs room and next to the downstairs room, although I never sat there. I ended up sitting at the smaller table in this wonderfully large kitchen as Peter and/or Penny were preparing meals.
The main room next to the guest area is a very large room with a fireplace and large dining table. Eating breakfast while looking out at Smith Bay is certainly a treat. You will not go hungry.
For an extra fee, you can have Peter and Penny serve up a fantastic evening meal. Do you have any special requests? Let them know and they will try and get it for you, particularly if you love fresh seafood (but only if it is fresh). I asked for a dozen oysters on the halfshell and Peter served them up on the last night of my three-night stay. You can actually forget you are staying at a B & B, particularly since most places serve you a regular breakfast and out the door you go for the day. Fillmore's Lombardy is a great place to come to after a full day of touring Kangaroo Island.
Fillmore's is out of the way along the North Coast Road, but it was easy to find. It is a good place to base yourself for touring Kangaroo Island.
I would return to Australia just to stay with Peter and Penny. They can help you out with any of your sightseeing wishes while on Kangaroo Island.
Peter said after three days that you would feel like you were right at home, and he was right! Enjoy your stay at Fillmore's Lombardy.
