We stayed at this hotel for two nights before flying to Cairns. Honestly, we were very unimpressed by the hotel. This hotel is advertised like a Porsche but turns out to be a very cheap Hyundai in reality. Why? Our room contained very old furniture and a terrible, dirty balcony. The balcony door was very loose and due to the heavy wind, we had a hard time finding any sleep at all during our first night as the door kept banging. The Tv programme was also very limited with only a couple of channels. The tea bags must have been there for ages and the hotel information brochure was coming apart. To be fair, the bathroom was renovated and nice. What annoyed us most was the fact that our room did not get made up properly after the first night. You could tell that the cleaning lady did not spend more than 5 mins in our room. Wifi was not free, charges were ridiculous. The endorsed swimming pool was a joke: The hotel itself does not have one but instead sends you over to the Country Comfort hotel to use their motel-like, tiny pool. And yes, be aware of very thin walls and doors. During our second night, we were woken up by drunk guests at 2am...Overall, this is never a 4.5 star hotel. Rather, it deserves 3 stars. That is acknowledged by the hotels low rates. Lastly, I must say that the guys at reception were friendly.

Dear Omundi
Thankyou for your review on your recent stay. I am sorry you did not enjoy the comfort of our hotel.
I have passed on your comments regarding cleanliness to our housekeeping team and will undertake further spot checks to ensure our standards are maintained.
Likewise the comments regarding television and balcony door have also been forwarded to our maintenance department. Additional room compendiums are in the process of being updated and will be replaced once these are to hand.
I am pleased to advise that we have commenced a refurbishment of all rooms (Standard Room) on floors 1-5 of the hotel including replacement of the dark furniture, replacement of carpet to most rooms and all corridors, repainting of all rooms and corridors and associated electrical work and wall mounting of flat screen televisions and other additional items. This work is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2012.
We clearly state on all websites under the room description our standard rooms are 3.5 star rated whilst the overall hotel is 4.5 stars, as rated independantly by AAA Ratings. Our owners and management company have taken this conflicting rating level into consideration as part of our committment to updating those floors as described above and to allow future guests the surety of all rooms throughout the property being similar in design and furnishings.
Your comments have been most constructive and we look forward to welcoming back should you stay with us in future.
Kind Regards
Damian Gillings
