We stayed in here in Dec 11 during Xmas period using Spreets voucher which works out about $100 per night and still think it's bad value for money.
1- Check in and Housekeeping service
Upon check in, we were told the room is not yet ready. We came back after 45m and still no room. In the end, the room is not yet ready till well past 3pm.
The room itself is very basic. They manage to squeeze a bunk bed and a double bed in the space of a double room at most. Room furniture, phones, alarm clocks are very old and dirty.
The air condition is the worst as it makes lots of noise. We couldn't stand it and did not turn it on again for 5 days. Lucky the weather was pretty cool. However, we had to put up with next door air con noises.
For 3 days, house keeping did not change our sheet. Not until my wife was in the room when they cleaned and specifically asked for it. Reluctantly, they did.
2- Food
The resort has got monopoly over food on this island.
Breakfast was included in our voucher but only cold food (cereal, bread and milk and some fruits).
We just had to pay extra $9pp to upgrade to hot food (bacon, egg, hash browns).
Breakfast menu never change at all and the plates are extremely dirty. In one instance, i gave a really dirty plate( old food left on the plate) to a staff and she did not even say sorry.
Lunch buffet cost $20pp and dinner is $38pp which we did not try given how bad the breakfast is.
The bar lunch menu is ok. Price is around $15-20 and serving was generous.
My advice: try bring as much food and water as you can. We brought waters, instant noodles and snacks.
3- Island activities
Everyday there is bird and fish feedings. Apart from that there was one single organized bush walk. We turned up for that walk and waited for 20mins and there was no one so I guess they just canceled.
At night, there was live music which gets quite loud.
The beach was very nice and the bush walk was beautiful. Pandanus Bay was better than Fish Bay. I didn't have time to do other longer walks but was told from other guests that they are nice as well.
There are 2 pools. One with swim up bar which is always full with kids. We swam in the bigger one which was less crowded.
There were some water sports activities like kayak, water surfing etc.
No real snorkel spot on the island.
Overall, I agree with other negative reviews. The resort is badly managed, rooms are old and dirty, staffs are overworked and tired. No fresh food even though it's only 30min from mainland.
However, the island is beautiful and it's a shame the resort is totally on the opposite. If only management can put some money and effort in improving some basic services.
Room Tip: As far away from the bar as possible to avoid music noises late into the night.
