We were pleasantly surprised with the room considering we only spent about $100/night on Wotif. The room had clearly been renovated recently, so the walls were freshly painted, the carpets were new, and the furniture was unmarked. The shower was hot, and the room had all the basics like coffee, tea, a fridge, and a flat-screen tv. The front desk staff even offered us complimentary milk for our room, which was great.
The main drawback is the location. Townsville is built on very steep hills, and even in our mid-20s, they were too steep for us to walk enjoyably. As such, we had to take taxis everywhere. Fortunately, there are restaurants near the Marina, which isn’t too far, and worked out to be about $10 each way. If you have a car, this would be a great place, but taxis really added up for us (plus $20 each way for the airport).
