I stayed here on a recent overnight business trip. Pretty difficult to find as even though I had described to the cabbie that it was Hotel M or Oaks M we still ended up at the wrong Oaks on Palmer and I had to double check the street address to end up in the right spot.
The entrance to the hotel is fairly unspectacular as it is set back from the road and you enter the foyer from what looks like an industrial car park.
I had efficient but not friendly service from the counter staff. Initially my room key was programmed wrong so I had to head back to reception for another try.
The room itself was furnished well and was very nice and clean. It had a sofa in the "lounge" area for chilling out and watching telly which is always good.
My view from the balcony was at the back of the property and looked out over Townsville and off to the mountains (no sea view unfortunately) but still a nice pleasant outlook.
A couple of gripes with the room itself - the TV channels had to be reprogrammed and the hot water pressure in the shower was terrible.
From a positioning perspective you are better off at the other end of Palmer St which puts you closer to restuarants, the newly refurbed town centre (old mall) and the strand.
All up this place was satisfactory - highlights were the room fit out and decor which were high quality. Lowlight was probably the location and a couple of minor hiccups with the room.

Stayed here for 3 nights, but totally regret due to the fact it was so tiny, we should have really stayed at the Oaks at the start of Palmer Street in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. The location is right on the very very end, close to industrial area. Be prepared for noise such as garbage trucks on the lower levels ( we were on level 3 ). It is also a bit of a walk to the main CBD area. On the plus side though the room was so clean and brand new, and amenities were excellent. Pub below was also very good and we enjoyed our evening meals and drinks there during our stay.

I gave now stayed at these apartments twice & have been impressed with both their service & the suitability of the apartments for the business traveller. My first visit did get off to a rocky start as my room was directly over the pool area of the backpackers hostel next door -& their late night party, however when I brought this up with staff the next dayvthe quickly gave me a change of room. It is great being close to a large rangevof restaurants, seafood takeaway & great coffee but yo alsohave the option to cook in the apartment.

Stayed at this location over the Christmas break for 3 nights, great price, modern and freshly furnished rooms. Really enjoyed the stay. Close to the rail tracks, last train seemed to be about 6:30pm or so, didnt affect our sleep at all. Its located at the end of Palmer street, but is only a short walk to all the resturants and pubs.
