“OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

the hotel lobby was nice, the actual appartment just needed a fresh coat of paint and a few other things. It wasnt dirty like some of the other reviews have said. it was good for the price we paid, and if your not planning on spending much time in the room then it is completely fine, we had a few rainy days confined to the appartment so a bigger/digital TV would have been great but we still had a good time. great location so close to the beach and shops!

Room Tip: see if you can get a renovated one

“RESORT??? NO WAY!!! Backpackers would have been nicer!”

Stayed 5 nights, 2 people in a one bedroom apartment..walked in, beautiful marble reception, lifts smelt amazing and clean....then we got to our room. On arrival seemed nice, then noticed the "king bed" was two singles pushed together which were different heights leaving a very uncomfortable sleep! Only sheets on the bed which made me wonder if they were clean, the in- room drier had no bearings so it was screaming metal on metal which had upper and lower guests thumping on the roof and floor telling us to shut up.No plugs in the bathroom. Plug in kitchen didnt fit which made it impossible to do dishes unless under running boiling water.Couches were rock hard because they were missing springs which had been replaced with a thick layer of ply wood. T.V in bedroom didnt work. T.v in lounge had 2 fuzzy channels and no DVD player. Fold out couch had urine stains on mattress and legs were rusted and snapped off so couldnt be put back in once pulled out. Curtains had blood or tomato sauce splattered all over them. cutlery draw had 7 spoons 2 forks and 1 knife. cupboards had 3 plates, 1 water glass, 3 wine glasses and one coffee mug.when asked to supply more water glasses we were told rudely by reception to drink more wine.Free WIFI wasnt free. pay per use Internet didnt work on hotel computers either and after putting in alot of money we were told to go down the road and use someone elses as it didnt work. No signs telling guests this was the case. Spa was dirty and didnt work. Sauna didnt work. Indoor and Outdoor pool was nice. Service was rude. Value was a rip off and FALSE ADVERTISING at $308 nz per night. FREE BREAKFAST was not stated that it would be nothing but 2 fried eggs bacon and 2 pices of half cooked white toast. Drinks NOT INCLUDED. I dont know anyone that wants to eat bacon and eggs 5 days straight cooked the exact same way. to me its a treat not a staple diet. The smell in the lifts was a bottle of dettol they pour on the floor to disguise any nasty odours. at night the smell lifted but in the morning its unbearable and we had to hold our nose all the way down from the 23rd floor. Balcony was un-useable as the door had to be lifted to slide open. carpet was dirty, freezer didnt freeze. WOULD NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. STAFF WERE UN HELPFUL AND RUDE.

“Definately not coming back”

Receptionists were rude and unwelcoming. The free breakfast was just bacon and eggs and nothing more. Air conditioners and fan did not work properly. First time entering the corridor towards our apartment room there was an unpleasant odour that carried in to our room as well. The carpet had stains and mould. Chairs and Sofa's had finger prints as well as signs of mould. The Drying machine did not work at times. Curtains looked like they were falling apart. TV was old and had bad reception. The spa was dirty and did not work at times. In the Bathroom, moulds could be seen everywhere. However, the view was great but the apartment itself was horrible. It's all false advertisement and lies. Not worth the money, even though its cheap. Regretted staying here! Apart from that, Gold Coast is a nice place for a holiday with family and friends! Doesn't even deserve a rating.

“Handy location but a little on the seedy side”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed at Beachcomber over weekend for business, unfortunately not much on iffer due to big day out crowds. Rented room through local realestate agency as a private rental. Agency were very helpful with booking and picking up keys etc.

Room was very small, two singles pushed together for the double and a separate single bed and a manky sofa bed that you would not let your dog sleep on. Couldn't swing a cat in the room, carpets were filthy, food and drink splatter on roof and walls, beer bottle lids and crumbs on the floor, no remote for the aircon which barely worked, squeaky ceiling fan, over flowing ice in freezer, filthy balcony with bird droppings and aircon overflow dripping everywhere. To top it off someone chucked in one of the lifts, the smell was unbearable and it was my luck that on all occasions i needed the lift i got that one! Holding your breath to and from the 14th floor was not fun!

Glad i was only there for two nights! Apparently i got a bargain at only $118 per night. Wouldn't hurt the owner to spend a couple of hundred dollars to tidy the place up.

When I did online booking with "Booking.com",Breakfast was included. No choice for vegetarian, only offer was bacon & egg.I only asked for egg, which was hurriedly cooked. My husband requested for tomato and mushroom, was given only mushroom.Orange juice/tea & coffee had to be paid for as was not included as part of breakfast. We have travelled to alot of different countries but this was first where tea/coffee & oj was not part of breakfast.
Very old and run down hotel, not worth the money. We were too scared to go in & out of shower as the door was falling apart.Wolud never recommend to anyone.
