“Very Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

Stayed here before xmas and was very impressed. Great location, but not noisy. Room was very clean, food was excellant and pool was good - if a little exposed just inside reception. Really couldn't fault this hotel and would stay again

“DO NOT LET PiCTURES FOOL YOU!!! WAT A DUMP!!”

Do not waste your time with this place. Suppose to be a 4 star hotel?? Don't know where they plucked them stars from.. The first room we checked into looked like a run down room that hadn't been updated since the 1940,s. Then to be told for a $60 extra a night we could get upgraded to there best ocean view rooms on the 20th floor. Paying the extra we get to the room and it's the same as the other room except with a plasma tv instead of a small box tv!!! The room looked old and depressing def not a room to want to relax in for a holiday... The balcony you would have been lucky to even fit booth your feet on to see a view of the beach surrounded by buildings infront of it.. Do not book here wasting your time if you do.. Over priced, false advertising and def not 4 stars!!

“Hideous, shabby and unhelpful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Firstly don't go there if you have a Visa Debit card: you will be told this card is useless in Australia by Mantra. This will be followed by a toll call on your own phone back home to the bank (don't ask to use their phone as they will say no) who will tell you that the Mantra are advising incorrectly and after some persuading they may try the 'credit' button for you which will work.
The room was very disappointing: old, shabby, dirty and dated.
On our first morning we were greeted by a large cockroach: however according to the Mantra this is to be expected as they fly in the windows all the time!!
If you are lucky to be moved to a similar shabby, dirty room check the deck: there was a huge crack across the top of ours extending into the room. If you are a NZ'er you will understand that a crack in your room is not a good idea after the earthquakes our country has endured! According to the Mantra however, their building is quite old so a few cracks here & there are also to be expected.
You may also want to avoid asking to have your airport/flight confirmed by the desk: they will refuse & point you in the direction of the public telephone as they 'are too busy to help with this kind of thing'.
I would avoid staying here - ever!!!

“Great few days”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Check-in process was quick, although i did have the trainee who forgot to tell me a few details (such as my room number and where to park), but I managed to figure out the details without too much hassle. Our room was on the 19th floor which had a great view over the ocean. We had a tiny balcony which was just big enough for the two chairs out there, however from our bed we also had a fantastic ocean view. The room was small, but suitable to our needs and had a flat screen tv. There was also a kitchenette with a tiny fridge, the fridge held all the mini-bar stuff and there wasn't any room for much else, so if you were looking to cook and have your own food you would need the fridge to be emptied. The room and bathroom were clean and the king size bed was comfortable. Short walk to the beach and shops etc. The restaurant for breakfast was just okay, nothing to rave about, however the buffet dinner was quite tasty! Service at the restaurant was great for both breakfast and dinner. I found the location of the pool quite interesting, it is behind the foyer and the restaurant overlooks it, so it is quite 'exposed' and not seperate at all. Overall it was a good stay, good value with the included breakfast and 2for1 deal for the buffet, however i thought charging for parking was a bit much (however i was aware of this when i booked), especially at $17 a day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the corner so you get the view from the balcony and also from the bed.

“A safe option for many”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

Stayed at Mantra Legends for 4 nights at the end of January.
Booked an Ocean View Deluxe Twin (we were a party of 3 adults - a couple and another adult). The bedding configuration was 2 x double, so it was good enough for 3 adults. We were given a room on a high floor, with a fantastic ocean view. The staff was efficient enough - quick, problem-free check-in, the house-keeping service was efficient, the check-out was also fast and problem-free. In this instance, we did not use their Food & Beverage facilities as we didn't need to (we left early each morning, so no time for breakfast in the hotel's restaurant). We did consider having dinner at the restaurant - seafood buffet, $59 per person but decided not to (we felt $59 per person was a bit too steep). Instead, we had dinner in local restaurants each night, we did not pay $177 for dinner each night obviously.
The location is fantastic, it's close to Cavill Avenue and the beach(es), definitely the hotel has one of the best locations on the Gold Coast.
The room was on the small side but if you regard that as a place to sleep, it should be sufficient. It's definitely not large enough for you to have a "party" in (which, you're not supposed to anyway...in a hotel like this). Parking costs $17 per day, self-parking. When I stayed, there were always plenty of parking bays available but I presume during a busy season, the parking lot would be filled very quickly..
Overall, this is a very safe option for anyone who is after a reasonably priced (yet good 4 star quality) hotel in the centre of the Gold Coast.
I probably wouldn't recommend the hotel to honeymooners or people who are after luxurious, top notch indulgence experience....
