“Very good - eventually!”

I stayed at this hotel in December 2011. We did not get off to a good start. I phoned them from Brisbane airport to tell them my flight had been delayed and I would be late checking in. I was shocked to be told that they did not have a booking for me, even though I had a confirmed booking from Wotif dated September 2011. Now everybody makes mistakes - right? What they needed to do was put it right and quickly. After several phone calls they told me they were full and that they had found me a room elsewhere - in a lower standard hotel in a less safe part of town. Wotif told Hotel Chino's management that they would not agree to the other hotel because it was not a suitable alternative. Guess what? Hotel Chino found they had a suite vacant and they offered it to me. It was great - lots of space and very comfortable.
So after a shaky start it all worked out well. I enjoyed my stay and despite my initial probelms, I will stay at the Hotel Chino again. It has a great location - close to a bus station and to the shops and cafes at Stones Corner. It has secure parking and is quiet and comfortable. The staff were nice. They have a pleasant bar and cafe. They have internet access in the rooms, although wireless internet would be nice for those of us who have iPads.

“Cheap and choose your room carefully”

WE stayed here for two nights after a long intercontinental flight. We had booked into a standard Double and were shown into room 2 - clean but very tiny for a double with very basic facilities and cheap fittings. Laid down to try to catch up on sleep after the flight - it was 2 in the afternoon and hotel was quiet but constant noise from the road and the occasional guest or staff member using the side exit door made sleep impossible despite exhaustion.

We asked to change and offered to pay for a dearer room and for just $20 more per night we were given an excellent room of a good size with a large bathroom and reasonable kitchen facilities with a reasonable supply of tea coffee, milk etc. It was 100% better than room 2. It was also at back of hotel and facing the side street. We slept here without any problems.
The staff were helpful although they couldn't open our room safe which had been left locked, they did make an effort to do so.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 2 or any on the ground floor.

“Ideal for what we wanted.”

We stayed here for the cricket in November 2010. The hotel was clean and tidy and ideally located for walking to the GABBA, was a bus ride or taxi to the city centre though (not a problem as we knew this before booking) The only problem with the place was the sheets, towels etc only got cleaned after 4 or 5 days or so!!! If it wasn't for this, and due to the reasonable price it would be an excellent!!!

“comfortable”

didn't book this place on my own the other hotel i booked was full, but they suggested Hotel Chino. we stayed in a queen delux. it was very nice. bed was comfortable. nice room. Geoffrey on reception was very helpful due to the stuff up by the other hotel. We were able to thave an early check in as we were attending a wedding at 2.30pm. the only complaint i can make was breakfast. very thing was nice except for the carcoal mushrooms. and the floor was very dirty. only a $15 cab ride to the city or a very short walk to the bus stop.

Room Tip: i would ask for a room not facing the main road.

“'Laid back' but clean, friendly and ideally located near hospital and public transport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Stayed here in a deluxe motel room for five nights last week. Chosen by employer due to being walking distance (10mins) from my employer's headoffice in Woolloongabba. The hotel is pretty 'laid back' in terms of services, but the staff were very accommodating when I asked to be shifted to a quieter room at the rear of the hotel due to traffic and train noise and my new room was quiet and the bed comfortable with a nice balcony. Staff were happy to provide any extra tea, coffee, milk and ice when asked. The room was very clean, but only serviced every 4 days & I can't understand why it was serviced on day 4 of a 5 day stay - I would think a service on day 3 would have made more sense. In room amenities were sparse with only 2 teabags for 4 days and no mini bar- but as I say, reception will happily provide more on request. Reception is only attended until 10pm so ask for 2 keys incase you lock one in the room as I was told there is no one onsite to let you into your room after 10pm. If you want a bath you will need to book an apartment. Parking is free. Transport wise the hotel is excellently located about 10mins walk from the adjoining Buranda train & bus stations, and 5 minutes from the Princess Alexander Hospital bus station. Woolworths, Target, Subway, Nando's a pizza/pasta restaurant and a 7-11 are located just at the end of the road about 3 to 5 minutes walk away. If you want to stay near the hospital or the Gabba and you're not wanting luxury and a fully serviced room, this hotel is a good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the building as front rooms have road and train noise. Only apartments...
