“There is a feeling of calm at this hotel.”

Our cities are over run with chain hotels in the downtown region of the city. They do a very good job and tick all the boxes. Sometimes you just need somewhere more like home a place that is quite and a place to relax after a long day. .
I stayed at Chester's in October 2010; I was looking for a small hotel for a few nights and found Chester’s on Trip Advisor. I stayed there again in October 2011 and must say this is a great place to stay. The hotel has few rooms; rooms have a smart appearance fitted with WIFI and large TV. Toiletries are top quality.
Breakfast is included is the rate and offers all anyone could need unless you want a huge English breakfast.. Coffee is from the coffee shop run by Chester's at front of hotel and first class.
There is a roof top area I have never used but open until 10pm.
The only draw back is the hotel is a $13.00 taxi ride to the city.

Room Tip: I have stayed on the ground floor, on this floor is a fountain and you can hear the noise of water c...

“Very Different and yet Fascinating Staying Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

We read the reviews and went there for our two-nights stopover at Brisbane. Our stay at this boutique hotel was up to expectation. The hotel is very small in scale with only ten rooms. But the rooms are very new and of elegant modern design, which is what we really prefer in choosing hotels. For the basics, the bed is comfortable, bathroom is very clean, and the room lighting is good too. Also the hotel provides slipper and tooth brush etc., which is very considerate. The hotel common area is nicely designed with spacious reading area, hotel kitchen and breakfast area. It is absolutely relaxing to watch the fish in the fish tank wall and the small cascade in the courtyard while having breakfast. In addition The manager and staff are very hospital and helpful, and of course they are professional and efficient too.

As for the location, the hotel is in the Fortitude Valley which is a few stops from the CBD. But it is quite close to bus stop so traveling to city is not that troublesome.

Besides, love their free-wifi and DVD collections.

“A quiet Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2011

This tiny hotel in Brisbane is a little gem.
I had chosen this delightful Hotel by looking at Trip Advisor, reading the reviews as you do.
Chester Hotel lived up to the hype. Good location, very quiet street and room. Clean and comfy well appointed throughout. Has a clean modern bathroom, walking robe, with comfy gowns and slippers, ironing board and so on. Tea and coffee in the room and not the usual run of the mill products.
All what you would expect from a large 4-5 star Hotel, only this Hotel is like staying in a small European Hotel, where the owner lives and works at the Hotel.
Hotel guest have the use of the wireless internet as well as a communal lounge area with comfy sofa's and a pc and printer as well as a well stocked collection of wonderful DVD's which you can use either in your room or perhaps in the common area. The open air roof top bar is self serve, once again a good selection of drinks as well as nibbles
Breakfast is better than a continental style breakfast, very fresh and plenty of choice.
Parking is out in front of the Hotel, was just fine.
You can see a lot of thought has gone into the set up of this small hotel. When I say small I mean by the number of guest rooms (10), surprisingly the living area is open with very high ceiling and skylight. Looks like a home from the outside, once inside it has the feel of a fresh modern inner-city warehouse, say in Melbourne or New York.
Well done!

Room Tip: We liked the rooms on the ground floor

This is an intimate hotel- reasonable position- 15v - 20 mins walk to central Brisbane. Excellent local restaurants. Outstandingly quiet for our first night arrival after long haul flight. Lot of good dvds to use- free internet access - excellent coffee. Very classy decor and room.
Very friendly welcome to Oz- thanks a lot - we'll be back.

“staff are amazing, a true "home away from home"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

I have travelled to many cities world wide and stayed at moany top 5* hotels around the world, however, when work put me up for the night in Brisbane and the usual hotel we used was fully booked i was told that i was staying at the hotel .. to be honest i had never heard of the hotel. So it was with aome hesitation i stayed here as i was not sure what to expect.

When i drove down the street from the Emporium presinct i was thinking .. "where on earth has my office booked me", pulled up outside the hotel and was thinking "this looks OK" , but nothing prepared me for the "entrance" to the hotel .... ABSOLUTLEY BREATHTAKING".. amazing Air, poliched cement floors, lavish furnishings and decor.. there really has been NO EXPENSE SPARED !!! The owners make you feel very welcome, and after meeting them both you can see where the style has come from .. both Maria and Peter are people that enjoy the good life and ooze style and sofistication ! something that is hard to frind in Brisbane !!!

The Room

I stayed in a Courtyard room and was VERY impressed .. again the furnishings are supurb, funtional, and very comfortable beds. Rooms are very large and a great open courtyard to sit and have a drink or just to chill out in !!

there is a roof top terrace and an honesty bar, this would be amazing on a summers evening !!

they offer a complimentary cooked breakfast also in the morning and espresso coffee !!! Free wireless internet in the hotel and the rooms.

One thing i REALLY like it the rooms do not have telephones ... everyone has a mobile these days .. so you do not have the inroom phone ringing.. i like not having one in the room personally.

All in all, this hotel makes me think of a Small , very upmarket, celebrity hideout in the city.. for the real celebs that like all the trimmings, but want to stay in a place where they can be themselves in a very homely environment....

A true find and i will staying here whenever i am in Brisbane !!!
