We stayed here on our way back to Darwin after a week of travelling. This place is really fabulous. We stayed in a deluxe cabin and it was lovely. Bed was comfortable and air con was whisper quiet. The deluxe cabins had their own pool area and the pool was fabulous after a hot day of travelling. We had dinner in the restaurant overlooking the gardens and the food was really nice - highly recommended.
We can't say enough about Mary River Park. We weren't expecting much when we turned up but were pleasantly surprised by both the accommodation and the staff. We wished we'd stayed another night and had a look around the area. When we come back, we won't hesitate to stay here again.
I really enjoyed my stay. I was in a deluxe cabin which had a queen bed and privte bathroom (huge showe!). There was a little patio off the front and the pool was right in front of my cabin. Breakfast included in rate - jsut toast and cereal but that was enough. Dinner was lovely. I coud not fault service - all the staff I came in contact with were very friendly. They also have a campground which is pet friendly so I may go bakc there with my family and take the dog. It's only a hour from Darwin on the way to Kakdu and no where near as pricey as Kakadu so a great place if you want to visit or even to base yourself if you are out fishing.
I have absolutely no problem with staying in budget places but if the place looks budget but charges high rates, that's usually where I draw the line. For 120 dollars, you can stay in a trailer that looks like it was built overnight. The bathroom which you have to go outside to get to was extremely hot and had frogs all in it and in the toilet bowl. The beds were not that comfortable either. I will say though that all the accommodation in this area is extremely overpriced in the first place. Of all the places I've been to, this part of Australia has the worst accommodation for the price. If this place cost 30-40 dollars then I wouldn't have minded, but for 120, I would expect quite a bit more. The staff were nice and friendly and the main lodge hall was nice and the area is pretty. Unfortunately tho, if you want to stay right in this area, your only other option is Bark Hut Inn which is cheaper but also worse.
Out dated, dirty, the tour guide is dirty, the food is terrible, you would be better off sleeping in your car and eating road kill, spend an extra two hours on the road and bypass this property!!!!
