There are multitudes of birds, the bush is alive with wallabies, wild pigs and probably snakes(though thankfully we didn't see any) and the river teems with fish and crocodiles. This park is an easy drive from Darwin and provides welcome respite from the noise and pace of the city. We rang and booked one of the cheaper and older cabins($90). The outside bathroom and the ancient bedsprings were mildly inconvenient but the surroundings compensated - sort of. The pools, gardens and restaurant area are lovely; the staff relaxed and friendly.
We ate in the restaurant both nights - a small menu but we took the chef''s recommendation and were delighted that the barramundi was perfect the first and the second time! We will be return visitors but we would opt for a deluxe cabin next time. If only we had checked wotif.com - there is currently a special and these newer, smarter cabins(with ensuite) are only $99.
The river cruise was well worth it - the guide was chatty, informative and there seemed to be a crocodile every 300 metres. Birds everywhere - we'll take our binoculars next time.
