“Convenient location...well equipped apartment rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Situated in a convenient location about half way between the city centre and popular Cullen bay attractions. The refurbished rooms (ours was on the first floor) would easily accommodate a family of four with two double and one single beds, a well equipped kitchenette, dining area and nice bathroom. Aircon, fans, good free wifi in the room, balcony and a pool make for a comfortable stay. There is an off-street parking lot too which is a bonus close to the city centre. We would certainly recommend the Peninsular for value and its good facilities. This was our third visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room...those on 1st floor on pool side have large balconies.

“A nice, old and complete apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This is an old apartment, where you can see it's by looking at some facilities such as aircond and old permanent radio, however they have put some modern facilities such as lcd tv and also new microwave. They are also saying as renovating rooms, i am not sure whether the room that i had was a renovated one. I stayed in a double/triple room there due to unplanned stay because my connecting flight to Bali was rescheduled to more than 24 hours from its original schedule.

Overall, it is a nice and complete place to stay. you have the kitchenette, which i believe is important if you want to cook your own meal to save some cost, a private bathroom and toilet (before i stayed there i was looking for rooms with ensuite bathroom but this was the cheapest) and also a working, old, air conditioner (but noisy, might be important issue if you are the one who is very sensitive with noise and can't sleep because of it). They also have a balcony where we dont use it except to dry some of my wet clothes. The size is also big enough for a couple like us. i didnt have the time to use the pool.

The kitchenette has a complete utensils, they asked you to return the apartment with the kitchen conditions as you entered it, and they provide electrical extension wire in the drawer for the microwave electrical socket which is too short.

We were staying at room no 36 on top floor, our room door is in front of the lift. The lift is old, small, and slow. Having a room in front of the lift after a slow travel makes you relieved that you dont have to travel any further after that. But it doesnt have any view to make us want to stay at the balcony.

however, as overall, i would recommend to stay at this place and might be returning here (if i ever have a chance to return to Darwin)

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room, and the one which facing the city

“Peninsular Apartment Hotel a quiet place close to it all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

My husband and I stayed here after two months plus in a caravan traveling more than 9000 km around Australia. We rented our caravan from Travellers' Auto Barn, which was just around the corner from the hotel. We really enjoyed the hotel. It is attractive, clean, quiet, and light. It was great to have air conditioning, which worked very well! It is a nice 10-minute walk to the city center of Darwin. The manager was really helpful to us as we searched for various things, like a good cafe. The kitchen facilities were top rate with lots of pots and pans and a full size refrigerator. The bed was really comfortable. Someone mentioned a lot of noise in one of the reviews, but we did not experience any noise at all. All the rooms have balconies. It is true that anyone can walk into the hotel, and the lock on the door was not the strongest. However, there was never anyone around that we worried about; and we felt quite safe in the neighborhood.

be careful which room you get allocated. ask for renovated room and ask to see it before you take it. i got a dark room which stunk of stale urine, when i complained they gave me a lovely renovated room without smell.
