“Good Value Budget Motel in Darwin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

Hotels tend to be pricey in Darwin. So the Paravista is a good budget option.. It is located about 3km from the centre in a quiet street close to the Stuart Highway, and a short walk to Parap Shopping Village where there are Restaurants and Takeaways. The hotel is fairly old and a little run down, but the rooms are clean and well equiped with fridge, television, air-con, fan, and allegedly free high speed wireless internet.

One gripe. I specifically requested a room with a good wireless internet signal, because I wanted to do on-line checkin for a flight the next day. This obviously fell on deaf ears because, unless no rooms have a reasonable signal, the strength was too weak to be able to do anything significant. I ended up having to sit on a chair in the small reception area, where the signal was strong but surrounded by people coming and going, which was very inconvenient.

Nonetheless if you can get a good price, the Paravista is a good budget option for a short stay in Darwin.

“Great Place”

We stayed for one night and really enjoyed it. The room was big incl. a balcony, TV, a small fridge, aircon and a separate fan.
The hotel was very clean and quiet which is a challenge to find in Darwin. You also have free wireless internet which is great as you don't have to go to an Internet Cafe.
We were lucky that we stayed from Friday to Saturday as we were able to go to Parap market for breakfast. It's only a 2min walk.
Late night check in was not difficult as you get instructions on how to get in.
To the CBD it's quite far, but considering the value that you get for your money, we can really recommend this nice Motel.

“Good value in a quiet area”

We arrived after two and a half days in cramped conditions on the Ghan to find a welcoming large bedroom and bathroom and balcony. The facilties were clean, bed comfortable and the aircondioner relatively new and efficient. A key is provided which is necessary to operate the aircondioner. There is also a fan in the room. Tea, coffee a small amount of crockery and cutlery, an electric jug, refrigerator and microwave are provided. The guest laundry, on the first floor, costs $2 per load, there is also an iron and ironing board available in the laundry.
Parap Village Tavern is a short walk where the Raging Bull restaurant serves very good meals. A block further on is the Parap Village and Saturday market, both well worth a visit. The Motel Reception closes at 7pm however Dale, the Manager, is very hepful in making suitable arrangements for late arrivals to access your room. There is no breakfast available. Onsite car parking is provided. There is no lift/elevator in the motel.
The location of the Motel enables easy access to public transport and provides a quiet relaxing base for a visit to Darwin.

“Nice stay, good value for Darwin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2009

My husband and I stayed there for two nights, and it was ok. The room is no frills but nice looking and clean; the bed comfortable. The swimming pool is very small, but it is pleasant for a dip to refresh (although they should empty a huge and very full ashtray...). The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, and the other few guests staying there were nice and quiet. In addition, it is well located, a few steps from Parap market which is a nice area. Overall, nice stay and a good value -compared to the prices of hotels in Darwin and the generally poor reviews.

“Lovely overall - unique”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

Kind of old and strange looking from the outside, and I think it would be advisable if the owners moved the large rubbish skip from the front area, but apart from that, lovely.

My mother and brother came from NZ to visit me while I was having a quick working holiday from Perth as a nurse at Royal Darwin Hospital. We stayed for 5 nights. Appreciated the free wireless internet, foxtel on telly, cute balcony over looking the neighbours pool who had a crazy little dog that would swim for ages around in circles haha. Nice pool area, coconut trees, my bro managed to wrangle a cocnut down as they had a long pole with a knife attached, what a laugh. Pretty cheap for 3 people $149 per night. Mum and I had to share a double bed but the bed was nice and firm. Good shower pressure, and plenty of parking for our wee rental car. Quiet, unobtrusive owners. A wee gem
