I agree with other posts that this is a spectacular place to stay. The "tents" are very luxurious & the food great. BUT Table 131 - dinner under the stars – can be a freezing cold experience at this time of year. (June) I think the overnight temperature was as low as 3.5C while we were there. I do not think that any of the guests was prepared for such cold weather, even dressed in the ponchos supplied by the place. These were pretty useless not being windproof. I can’t see the point of dining outside in discomfort. Maybe if the outdoor heaters down our end of the table had worked, it might have been a bit more comfortable. After dinner, we sat & froze while we listened to an astronomical lecture which was very good - a powerful searchlight showed us various stars & heavenly bodies. I was too cold though to wait behind afterwards to look through the telescope. I think we should have eaten inside & then gone out with the guide for the astronomy. I would recommend anyone who is contemplating going to Longitude during the Australian winter to take warm hats, gloves, scarves, thermal underwear etc etc for this event ,as well as for the sunrise tours where I was glad to have my heavy winter jacket which I had packed for Melbourne. I also recommend anyone travelling there to phone up & find out...More
