Staying here was a treat to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. So reading the mixed reviews had me a little worried. At $2000 a night, I had never paid that much for accommodation before, so I tried not to have high expectations but it wasn’t easy.
We arrived in our own plane and didn’t have any problems organising a pickup from the airport at our time schedule. The car was there within minutes of our call. Upon arriving at Longitude 131 you are seated in the Dune house to go through the tours and dining options. We were then taken to our room, which I had requested one of the front “tents” and we received room 15, which is the most private, as nobody walks in front of your windows to get to the Dune House, so privacy isn’t a concern (who wants to close the blinds when you have that magnificent view?).
A bottle of champagne was on ice, waiting for our arrival – thank you very much! The fridge is also stocked with various complimentary goodies, such as beers, cokes and soda waters and a few chocolate bars.
The room was spacious and well thought out and I couldn’t find a fault. With an extremely comfy bed, with nice crisp linen.
The meals were fantastic and staying the two nights didn’t result in any repeated meals. The tours were well done, although we missed the final morning, as we had to fly out early. Dinner under the stars was very enjoyable. To all the people that whinged about not seeing what they were eating, or that it was done whilst still on property, then you must have a miserable life if that’s all you can do is complain about such small things ……………………
Staffs were excellent and we couldn’t complain about lack of service. They were friendly and knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough for us. Well done to all of them.
Once you break down the price you have paid for meals, drinks, tours and accommodation, the price is very relative and not as expensive as you initially think it is, actually I would say we got a bargain.
I am so glad we stayed and experienced Longitude 131, it was very memorable and a tick off my bucket list.

Room tip: Try to get one of the rooms 12-15 so you have an unobstructed view of Uluru

We stayed 3 days / 2 nights at Longitude 131 beginning of september 2011. We had the luck to see the desert blossoming out of the red soil after the rain of the past months in the region. We enjoyed every sigle bit of hospitality, friendliness, organisation, food, wine, breathtaking landscape, information and legends given during the tours. Three incredible and very intense days that are fully impressed in our minds and in our souls. We have been thinking long about including this location as part of our first visit to Australia because Uluru is not "around the corner" even for Aussies themselves, and therefore it had an impact on the overall budget of our trip. Well, we could not be happier that we made this choice. Longitude 131 simply has no competitor here. Food, beverages, tours to Uluru, tours to the "Olgas", sunrise walk, sunset walk, dinner under the stars... everything is included: you can leave your purse in the safebox provided in your room for the time you'll be here. Please get yourself an idea of the cost of the individual tours provided by other companies by googling around a bit if this can give you any help to take the decision. We definitively think this is the place to stay to visit the Aboriginal sacred Mountain, this is the place to enjoy the silence and the scent of the honey grevillea flower in the morning before the sunrise, surrounded by the magnificence of the nature in an incredible comfort. You can't measure this place with traditional stars. Look at the map, and get yourself an idea where this structure of just 15 "tents" is located. Consult the photos provided by other guest on this site and ask yourself if you were running this place how would you do that. Congratulation to the staff, to the management and to the designers of this lodge. Thank you for the experience and the harmony. It has been a privilege to be here, to learn the stories told during the tours, to taste savours and wines under the stars... and even to learn about the 1860 Burke and Wills expedition simply by going through the material and the pictures hanging in our "tent" which is dedicated to them (each "tent" is dedicated to a meaningful character of the Australian history).
One final comment: we had no flies during our stay beginning of local springtime, anyway this is desert, so temperatures varies a lot during day and night (we had between 9 and 29 Celsius) and hot summer months are really hot (46+)... so plan your visit responsibly.

We stayed 2 nights at Longitude 131 to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. From the moment we arrived - it was absolutely gorgeous. Yes - it's expensive, but is it value for money? Yes, most definitely. Once you arrive - everything is free. All your drinks, food, tours, mini bar etc. Everything is brilliantly organised, the staff are fantastic and the chef is one of the best in Australia! On this trip - we ate at Aria Restaurant - and the food was not up to Longitude 131 standard. Sensational! Thank you so much to all the staff for a gorgeous luxury highlight.

Longitude 131 resort is one of the Voyages Group Resorts and is simply unique and awesome. Accomodations, food, service and ambiance are all 5-star plus.

I have never stayed in any resort like it before. It consists of only 15 individually-designed and brilliantly appointed "tents" and each has a private view of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the extraordinary landscape of the Outback of Central Australia (but still within the Northern Territory).

This all-inclusive resort offers airport transfers, all food, snacks, beverages & wines/spirits, tours and accommodations and is the only resort that actually views Uluru.

The resort has a large pool, viewing areas and several rest-relax spots but the draw is always the "rock" and it can be seen from almost everywhere on the property.

The complimentary tours and events are incredible.

Sunset champagne toasts to Uluru, 5-star cuisine dinner under the stars, astronomy lectures and sky viewing, digideroo concert, sunset walks and canapes/champagne at the base of Uluru, sunrise walks and "brekkie" (breakfast) at the base of Uluru, tours of the Cultural center and so many more.

Unique Qualities: There is a total of 15 private, luxury tents featuring:
• King-size bed (twin available upon request) • Air Conditioning / Heating • Bath Robes • Private Bathroom • Shower • Shaving Outlet • Hair Dryers • Mini Bar • CD Player • Lounge • Arm Chair • Writing Desk • Tea & Coffee making facilities • In-Room Safe • Pool Towels • Smoke Detectors • Direct Dial ISD/STD Telephone • Daily Cleaning • Evening Turndown Service

Each elevated tent also tells a story of an early Australian pioneer or explorer with pictures and narratives throughout. The walls have a unique interior design in earthy natural tones, finishes and fibres with an eclectic mix of classical colonial and contemporary pieces. Wardrobes and vanity basins are similar early 1900's Australian food chests and wash troughs.

The white dome roof & flowing fabric draped from the center "big top" create the illusion of camping but only in comfort. A bedside switch can raise the floor-to ceiling window blinds to allow Uluru at sunrise to work its magic. These eco-green rooms are designed to remain cool in summer & warm in winter with individual controls.

The Dune House, in the middle of the "camp" site, is a huge communal facility and central meeting place for all Longitude 131° guests where meals are served and where the reception is available to meet any needs or wants.

The Dune House also includes a library with maps, a comprehensive collection of historical and current books, games, a large screen TV, DVD player (with library) & internet station. You can access the well-stocked bar and enjoying a drink in the lounge or out on the deck with stunning views of Uluru and the surrounding desert.

The peace and solitude of Longitude 131 was clearly evident as soon as I stepped out of my complimentary Range Rover transport from the Ayers Rock Airport.

The dirt road leading to the Longitude 131 "campsite" is about 5-10 minutes from the main Ayers Rock Resort area.

A short climb to the top of a sand dune brings you to the communal "Dune House" where reception, dining, entertainment and socializing occurs.

Once there, you walk to your "tent" and are shown all the aspects that make it "glamping"-glamour camping.

Choices after that are as simple as just enjoying the view of Uluru through the floor to ceiling bay windows the foot of your bed or everything from a Harley-Davidson Tour to a Helicopter Ride of the area (which apply extra charges) or you can opt for complimentary tours as I did that include:

Uluru (Ayers Rock) & Kantju Gorge Sunset tour
Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) & Walpa Gorge tour
Table 131 – Dining Under the Stars
Cultural Center and Kata Tjuta Views
Uluru Sunrise Walk
Mulgara Gallery and Township Tour
Self Guided bush walks

I thoroughly enjoyed my sunset walking tour of Uluru and watching the rock colors transform right before my eyes, the dinner under the stars, the Uluru sunrise walk around the base (about 9 km), the Cultural Center, and the sunset toast. (I did take SOME time to just enjoy the solitude of my tent overlooking Uluru).

I can't praise enough the staff of Longitude 131 from the guides to the room attendants to the chef and wait staff--all were awesome and instrumental in making this "luxury wilderness" adventure so special.

Unique Qualities: I had so many little sidetrips during my 5 week adventure in Australia (and Thailand/Singapore) this trip that I forgot that Longitude 131 was all-inclusive and this was a most pleasant surprise.

So, champagne it was--- and the anticipation of knowing that I would soon be enjoying a fusion of Australian cuisine and both indigenous & international flavors. The first of my gourmet, 5-star cuisine meals consisted of:

Cauliflower Soup (Almond Buerre Noisette)

Braised Rabbit and Black Truffle Raviolo (Olive Tapenade, Baby Spinach, Lemon Olive Oil) or

Butter Poached Western Australian Lobster Tail (Green Asparagus, Poached Egg, Pickled Radish)

French Sable Biscuits (Dark Chocolate Marquise-Orange Glaze)--and this was just lunch.

Dinners were even more exotic with everything from Venison to Barramundi.

Of course, a wide selection of beverages, wines, and beer made for a great time in the Dune House or back in the room (which was also stocked).

There was nothing less than 5-star quality in everything about Longitude 131. From each of the individually "themed" tents (I was in the Burke-Wills [ Australian Outback explorers] tent), you could, as the resort touts, "Get as close to serenity as possible, rejuvenate the body, stimulate the mind, activate your senses and liberate the spirit".

I would suggest going online to their website to really capture the beauty and essence of the resort and area and even ordering their DVD for a more intense look at this "glamping."

This wilderness luxury paradise is in Yulara, Northern Territory of Australia and is 6km from Ayers Rock Airport

Overall, Longitude 131 Lodge was everything I could have hoped for. The individual tents were nothing short of luxurious. Watching the Uluru landscape from your bedrooom - whilst in bed - was breathtaking. It was the perfect escape from everyday life. Very clean, modern rooms as shown in the pictures. The only fault i could find was the positioning of the air conditioner - directly above the sink/bathroom area, hence chilly bathroom experiences.

The staff were helpful, friendly and highly approachable. The tours were well organised and varied - from Uluru rock tours/sunset tours/village tours and even a star gazing gathering. The guides were knowledgable about Uluru's history - and its the little things they did that made the whole experience that much more special. I.e. Providing champagne and nibbles during the sunset tours, picking you up post-trek with beverages and cold towels. In terms of dining, yes there is only one restaurant so to speak but they are constantly changing their dinner specials so your taste buds will also be delighted. The meals were great! They have a fantastic selection of wine/cocktails.

If you're looking for a getaway from the city - for a luxurious, sunny, remote immersion into nature, this is the place for you. I will most definitely be looking to come back in the near future.

One heads-up though: FLIES! Uluru in general has a huge amount of flies- though the lodge does equip you with fly head nets so you're in good hands.
