Found the "family room" to be very cramped for three adults. We were not offered the cooked breakfast that had been so proudly advertised. We didn't really know what areas of the home we were welcome in and where other guest were located. No TV in our room, so weren't able to watch the tennis matches from Melbourne at Kathy's

We loved our stay at Kathy's which was very nice and relaxed. We had a large room with our own fridge and access to the pool and patio area. The breakfasts were to die for! Freshly laid eggs from her own chucks every morning and whatever else you wanted for either a cooked breakfast or continental. Kathy and Karl were both so friendly and welcoming and told us to make as many cups of tea as we wanted or use the kitchen if we wanted to cook our evening meal. They had lots of leaflets and advice on day trips etc which was invaluable and being picked up from the airport was a lovely welcome to Alice Springs. Excellent value for money and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

I made a booking for 2 nights at Kathys in the July with credit card details etc and received confirmation. Then in September I received an email saying I had been transferred to another guest house in town, no reason given. The new place did not have a pool, and one of the reasons for booking Kathys was that it did.
I therefore cancelled the booking and made sepatate arrangements for another hotel.
I felt this was an extremely poor service bearing in mind I had a definate booking, I can only assume they had a better offer for those nights or maybe a block booking for a longer period.

I can highly recommend Kathy’s place. Exceedingly laid back and welcoming, with a wealth of leaflets and information. The bed was wonderful comfortable and the pool and garden a delight.
Kathy and Karl manage that wonderful balance of being friendly and helpful and ygiving you your own space, so you staying in their home is not an imposition you don’t feel awkward, Nice touches like large bottles of toiletries which you are invited to make use of. Super pool and garden with plenty of seating in the shade for you to chill out in. A clear invitation to help yourself to tea and coffee at any time,and the best breakfast ever!

I flew in to Alice and left on the train, and Kathy offered in her confirming email to meet me at the airport and return me to the station when I left, which she did. They have a great book of photos of people who have stayed there with letters, cards and emails they have sent – all glowing talking about their stay and not surprisingly. The most welcoming of people a great example of what a B&B should be.
