“Location convenient, apartment very comfortable but nothing special, SERVICE and attitude SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTING!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

I stayed here in November for 3-4 weeks due to the apartments proximity to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital which was 5 min walk away.
I do understand I was lucky to have got a reservation as most places in Sydney seemed to be quite busy for some or part of our intended stay.
Check-in was smooth and we were directed to our apartment which smelt like someone had been sick there previously. Generally the apartment was clean on the surface, but they don't clean the inside of the dishwasher or oven, so we had some left over crumbs. We bought a scented candle, cooked a few meals, used our own purchased disinfectant and cleaned up after ourselves and were quite comfortable thereafter.
The apartment layout and space was very comfortable and suited our requirements. Nothing special, but suitable.
What was seriously disappointing, however, was the level of service from the Front Office and seemingly inexperienced Maintenance and Housekeeping departments.
On the 2nd night of our stay, we learned that a garbage truck collects rubbish at 5am and then again at 6am which was quite a disruption to our sleep, especially since I had a 2yr old with us. When I asked the reception about whether they were able to offer us an alternative room, the Property Manager actually said 'she did us a favour' by having accomodated us and that this was the last apartment available. We were not warned at the time of reservation that we would be disturbed like this should we take the apartment available. As we were not able to find new accomodation, we decided to stay on and learned that if we used the ceiling fan, we were less disturbed. The occasional ambulance and traffic didn't bother us too much as we do come from Asia; the garbage truck however, was seriously irritating.
They service the room once a week and remove garbage daily. We had to remind them often and sometimes when we returned to the apartment it had not been done. The Front Office informed us most times that the staff had left and therefore we had an overflowing bin for a little longer.
We had requested a rollaway bed for 3 nights of our stay and although the Front Office was informed 2 days prior to our requirement, we had to remind them again on the night required. In fairness, it was delivered quite promptly thereafter. However, when we reminded the Front Office that it was due to be collected, they informed us that they were 'too busy' and therefore it remained in our room for an additional 2 nights.
Although it was to be supplied, we purchased our own toilet paper, but when we requested an extra roll, the Front Office staff seemed quite offended to be asked to arrange the supply of one !!
We had a car park space for most of our stay and it seemed they had over booked their limited availability, as on the last 2-3 nights of our parking space requirement, there was almost nowhere to park.
The last straw was when items were removed from our apartment (which were located in the Laundry) which had been sitting there for at least 2.5 weeks untouched during room cleaning were suddenly removed one day by staff during garbage removal. Usually staff only took items which were in the 2 rubbish bins supplied, one in the bathroom and other in the kitchen. This time they decided to take our collection of a box which was required for packing later on and a neat pile of shopping bags for our possible re-use and plastic bags which were knotted and used by us for general clearing when we tidied up. When I promptly complained, the girl at Front Office seemed quite disturbed by it, but no one corresponded with us thereafter. I called the Reception when we returned in the evening and the new girl on duty said that she 'expected us to check in with them' and that 'we had lodged the complaint with a different member of staff' !!! She explained to me that we needed to lodge the complaint in writing for them to take action and this was done the following morning. I am still to hear a response and apology and felt quite disturbed and violated that items were removed from our apartment without our approval.
On my last stay in Sydney on leisure, we stayed at Fraser Suites, which I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Quest Camperdown is not in the same category at all and it would be unfair to either to begin to compare!
Overall, I would possibly stay here again should we require accomodation for our next visit for medical treatment, due to convenience of location we would possibly stay again, but I sincerely hope that the staff will brush up their hospitality and service skills !

“Great location, great staff, great apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

We stayed at The Quest, Missendon Road for two nights in early June while a family member was in RPA.

We reserved a Studio apartment which had everything in it that we wanted. It was very clean, stylishly decorated and very quiet - our apartment faced the laneway to the left of the building as you were facing it from Missendon Road.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and check in/check out was easy. We parked our car in the secure underground car park accessed from the laneway - we reserved the car park in advance as there aren't many of them and there is an additional charge for this.

Our Studio Apartment had a very comfortable Queen sized bed (very nice quality linens on the bed too), table and chairs, flat screen TV and other techno equipment which we didn't use, good size built in wardrobe and a very spacious bathroom in soothing colours with good quality towels. There was also a balcony which we didn't use but it was great if you like to sleep with fresh air coming into the room.

Opposite the bed was a "kitchenette" complete with all the cutlery, plates and cooking utensils that you could want particularly for a short term stay, microwave and a minbar. There was no stove or cooktop or kitchen sink, but given that we had a studio, that didn't really surprise us nor bother us as we didn't plan to cook anything.

While we could pay extra for an internet connection in our apartment, there is one free internet station in the lobby which is available when staff are on duty (early morning til late at night). Free local newspapers and various tourist brochures are available from the lobby while a daily Sydney paper is delivered to your door in the morning free of charge - a bonus extra which we were didn't expect but were glad to have.

The location was great - just a couple of minutes walk to the hospital and other nearby medical facilities. There is a supermarket a minute or two away if you want to buy a few food items - I didn't because like other guests we brought a few of our own food items so we didn't have to spend time shopping.

The other thing is that there is a pub which serves great meals for around $10-12 very close by as well as several cafes - all around the $10 price range for Thai for example, and if you really must, Maccas opposite RPA. However there are a ton of cheap eats in King St Newtown if you want to venture a further 5-10 mins up Missendon Road.

Transport into the city from The Quest is very easy. Simply head to the left out of The Quest, cross over Parramatta Road, buy a bus ticket from the newsagent and wait for a bus - there is a pretty regular service during weekdays and it takes about 10 mins or so (depending on taffic conditions) to get to Town Hall in the city.

I'd definitely stay here again....but my tip would be to book early as this is good quality establishment close to RPA which can be booked out due to its popularity with guests.

“Comfortable, nothing special.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

Stayed here for an extended period of time (2 weeks) in a 1 bedroom apartment. The location is great for RPA, and is only a short bus ride down Paramatta rd into the heart of Sydney .

The staff are, without fail, exceptionally friendly. The rooms are well sized, and come with Aircon, and a proper kitchen. I didn't really find the noise an issue, but be aware that you are booking on Missenden Rd, which is a pretty busy street.

A couple of issues:
1. Internet was expensive. In this day and age, I can't believe anyone can get away with charging AUD$25 for 24 hrs of internet (and it was slow too).
2. Breakfast - there is no restaurant (it's an apartment of course) and they place that they allow chargebacks to doesn't open until 7:30am and not at all on Sundays. This may be fine for some, but be aware.
3. Breakfast packs, containing a small box of cornflakes, UHT milk, Golburn valley fruit pottle and some biscuits are AUD$9!

All in all, it was comfortable, warm and friendly, but nothing overwhelmingly special.

“Loved it - will visit again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

This is the first time I've used Trip Advisor and I was reading about another person that must has stayed around the same time as us, and we had such a different stay.
Loved the place, the staff are very good and extremely helpful. The manager is a delightful lady and nothing was a problem. The rooms have apparently only just been redone and were very clean and comfortable.
There was some noise one night, but that was because there were a few hoons making trouble somewhere outside on the road.
In all, I'd stay here again.

“STREET NOISE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2009

I decided to stay at Quest Camperdown as I had a one day course at Sydney Uni. It took them three goes to get the confirmation email correct at time of booking. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The noise was unbearable. After the first night I asked to be moved. Front desk said did you request a room less noisy at time of booking. How did I know about the noise. She said we are fully booked. The exhaust fan did not have a cover over the fan, the toilet made noise when flushed and a large knife was missing a handle (very dangerous). Knife was replaced, fan attended to but nothing else. My husband was offered a small breakfast pack which would feed a fly. We have stayed at other Quest apartments most recently in Darwin (very nice) but we will not stay at Camperdown again. We live in Sydney, I could have stayed at home and got more sleep getting up early to travel to Camperdown. This experience has turned us off Quest alltogether. We are seasoned travellers and even staying last year in paris did we experience such noise
