Central Location makes for great access to the Bridge, the Opera House and a host of sights & shopping locations in the area. The City sightseeing bus is available a short walk away (past the ANZAC Memorial on Martin Place), which made it really convenient for us.
The Lobby has interesting artworks, which also serve to ease the pain of waiting.
The Bar looked very inviting but duty (and the wife) beckoned :-(
Car parking charges of 56 AUD per day represent a convenience, but we declined as we opted to explore the area on foot /cab /city sightseeing bus.
The Hotel has 2 wings and we had rooms at the 7th (?) floor in the modern wing.
However, as this looked onto a perspex sheet covering the central courtyard between the 2 wings, we did not have much of a view.
Check in & Check out was efficient, staff was helpful and gave us rooms despite our reaching the Hotel around 1230 Hrs. At the price we paid, we thought our stay was super value.
Rooms were comfortable with all mod-cons; the welcome message displayed on the LCD TV which read " (Name)...welcome to your home in Sydney" was a nifty touch.
The Bathroom, was clean, and spacious, but more on that later.
Gym is in the Heritage wing and is well equipped although it was effectively closed for Christmas/ Boxing day.
Gripes: The bathroom blind did not adequately cover the glass for complete privacy, and this caused signifficant discomfort.
More seriously, despite leaving the 'Do not Disturb' sign on (as we were running late for an event, and didn't have time to pack our stuff away in the safe etc), Hotel staff entered the room in our absence to clean it. When we asked the front desk, we were blithely brushed off with "Oh that's hotel policy...we always enter a room at 2 (or was it 12 ?) even if the DND sign is on" !! Haven't heard such brazen faced bull$@*! in any hotel anywhere. One can understand the Hotel's right to open a room if a guest hasn't been seen for a couple of days, but this was coming it rather high.
This event, and the facile explanation marred what was otherwise quite an enjoyable stay.
