Novotel have upped their visual standards in recent years - and the approach is consistent at least you know what you are getting!. When I arrived the systems were down and the room I had been allocated had been given to another person. This didn't really impress me as I had to wait until they found another room for me.
The room I was then allocated was OK, but didn't have any kind of view and a walk in shower (suitable for a disabled person). There was no offer to change it to something more suitable.
I have to complain about the beds. Rock hard. Same last time I stayed in one. The mattress thin, and on a solid rather than sprung base. Definitely chosen for style over comfort. I was a bit perturbed by the 1.5% charge for using my credit card on check out though. I think this is an unnecessary charge (and actually the room rate my company negotiates means I should not even pay this - but the chap on the desk would not listen!).
The lifts were also a bit slow.
Besides all that I would stay here again. The location is excellent and good value for money, I only hope the beds get fixed soon, and the checkout staff get training in negotiated rates clauses.
