On the night before the ANZAC Day March, my mother and I decided to spend the night at the Swissotel, Sydney, so we wouldn't be too far away from the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph. And I have to say, we had a thoroughly delightful time here.
We have been coming to the Swissotel for many years for High Tea (we came for the first time the 2nd week The Swissotel introduced High Tea) and have continued a tradition with 3 generations of my female relatives, since to celebrate birthdays and mother's days.
My mother experienced a little misunderstanding upon check-in, but Ahmed, on Reception, was thoroughly delightful and allayed her worries. I was concerned because she has high blood pressure, but Ahmed treated her with the utmost understanding and courtesy and called me to sort out the details and settled her into our room with the least amount of delay.
We also were delighted when we received a room upgrade, totally unexpected, but definitely appreciated.
The beds were fantastic! So much so, that I enquired with Yuslida, out Check-out adviser the next morning, what brand they were when we were leaving. Having had an unfortunate accident, some weeks ago, I appreciated how comfortable the bed was with regards to my injuries!
My mother and I enjoyed our dinner at jpb and adored the peppercorn pavlova with balsamic ice cream and passionfruit custard! It was really lovely and we weren't quite sure what to expect with peppercorns and balsamic with sweets, but were delightedly surprised. She had never tried wagyu beef before, either, and she enjoyed it immensely. We just had to pass on our compliments to the chef!
The room was lovely with a spectacular view out over the Queen Victoria Building and Darling Harbour in the distance, and we even saw fireworks. We weren't too sure why they were happening, but enjoyed them nonetheless. I personally loved the bathroom and the shower head that different pulse settings, just the thing for a sore back.
Everything was superb and so less stressful to be able to stay so close to the Cenotaph, where we could attend the Dawn Service safely early the next morning. We were able to return to our room and rest a bit before having a wonderful breakfast and attending the ANZAC Day March.
Ahmed was wonderful and arranged for us to have a late check-in, which allowed us to have a little rest after the March.
The staff did to everything to make our stay at the Swissotel a pleasurable experience. It was a truly delightful stay.
I am even thinking of staying at the Swissotel in Switzerland later in the year. I've always wanted to experience a White Christmas!
If possible, ask for a room between Floors 25 and 18, as they have been renovated and have the new...
