Uber cool hotel in excellent location. First room was simply filthy. Wine stains and dust and the very cheap designer fittings are falling apart. Sack the cleaners and maintenance staff.

Made up for first room by moving us to Penthouse which was fantastic. Also beware the bars close on bank holidays so nothing was open and no warnings.

This boutique hotel won't be for everyone but if you like smaller, design-conscious hotels -- and some of the best restaurants in Sydney (Est and Sushi-E) then stay here. Or then again, don't: I wouldn't want the place booked out next time I'm in town.

First, I have to comment that the hotel entrance for guests is in a hidden corridor that makes you feel like you are a celebrity. Second, the lobby feels very zen and peaceful with the dim lighting and minimalist decor. Third, the hotel is very sleek and contemporary yet warm. The price is pretty par with the Four Seasons, but you don't feel surrounded by tourists. There is no spa, so it's def not a spa type of vacation. The fitness room is small but has the essentials, but it is clean so that makes it better.
My husband and I arrived the day after Christmas and we are staying until the 4th. We are enjoying the hotel and the city as transportation is very easy. There are many cabs and the ferries are close by so going to manly is easy. The food prices are a bit high, much to my surprise. The convenient stores don't really take Amex, so be prepared for that. The hotel is walking distance to some great shopping and restaurants. We love going to Paddington, which is about $18 cab from the wharf.

Location of the hotel was great - walking distance to Sydney Harbour and shops on George Street. The interior was very chic too, as it is in a renovated old building.

However, the pillows were flat and limp, the bed was a tad small (queen sized, I expected a king size from a hotel of this standard), and the walls were paper thin and we couldnt help but wake up in the middle fo the night to hear the neighbours walking along the corridors at night, doors opening and closing, etc.

Service from the front reception was lukewarm at best, only the two night reception girls were helpful with directions.

Tried two of the restaurants in the hotel that was supposedly highly acclaimed. Sushi-E was probably good for Australian standards, but we waited 1.5hours for our main course. We started dinner at 9.30pm, and our mains were served to us at 11pm, and the dinner was ruined as we were no longer hungry and we had to watch the kitchen scrub the floors and wash the kitchen whilst we eat. Not the kind of experience I was expecting. Est was better, the food came promptly and the veal was lovely.

Overall, I probably will not go to this hotel again, for I would like to have better service and a comfortable stay and I do not think this hotel has more to offer other than a good address and chic decor.
